God Bless you Stephen, Steph and everyone in your family - stay strong and keep positive. Puts all the current issues at our club into some sort of perspective as others have said

What terrible news this is. This is an awfull disease at whatever age but to strike someone so young just shows the unfairness of life.
Best of luck to him I am sure he will fight it with the same determination and dignity he showed as captain of our club

Agree with all the comments above, just terrible news for him and his family.

One of my favourite memories of him at City was the sight of him ploughing through all the lunatics down at Reading in the Cup replay, so he could applaud the fans behind the call.

Heard this news at work earlier today. Dreadful news and puts everything into perspective football wise.
He will always be fondly remembered at City as part of the history makers.
I wish him and his family all the very best as he fights this terrible Illness

Just picked up on this news. Absolutely dreadful. Always came over so well. I guess everyone on here will be very upset. A great professional and servant for this club.

    I've mentioned this before ................
I once told my Father 'There is something special' here ............. Div 1 (PL) here we come !!

Flashback to late October ......... "Not in my lifetime, Chris." My father said.
My Father passed away in the following January - Only for us to beat Wolves and actually do IT, come May.

That may not mean much to many - But I reckon my dear old Dad was just hanging on to see his book published.
He was an evening lecturer at Bradford College, and apprentices often asked which was the best 'Text Book'. ? There wasn't one ........... there were about eight in all - So my Father wrote all into one, based upon his own skillset.

YES - It was eventually published, and is still purchased by many a College.
And that is the mark of the man - He fought to the very last. I'm sure Stephen will, too.

It's hard to know what to say after hearing such sad news about a guy who was a credit to the Bantams and his profession. I was just thinking recently what an asset he would be to us now. My thoughts and best wishes go to Stephen, Steph and all his family. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers Stephen. True City Legend.

Absolutely terrible news, so sad. I can only echo what others have said; a model professional in his time at City. One of the best. Thoughts go out to him and his family.

    Terrible news.

A true legend for our club.

I don’t think he had the send off he deserved when he left.

As mentioned, would be fantastic to have a preseason game against Bolton. A good occasion to selibrate is time with us. History maker

A player who wore his shirt with pride and played with total dedication, a leader on the pitch and dignified off it. A consummate pro who gave his all to the cause. He will need those attributes now in abundance and I think we would all hope he receives the latest available advances in treatment along his journey.I wish his family and friends the strength that they need to remain positive and hopeful and take comfort in those rallying their support for Stephen following this cruelest of news.

So, so sad to hear this news. We’ve lost a close family member to this awful disease. Our thoughts and prayers with Darbs and all his loved ones.

A brilliant professional and seems a brilliant bloke.

As others have said, puts an awful lot of things into perspective.
