Do you think these people want to be going out to work on those packed tubes? Of course not. They're forced into it because they have to put food on the table.

They're being let down by their employer or the government or a mixture of the 2. Take away dickheads licking handrails and you just have people like you and me that have to live.

I went out in my street with my 2 kids who were hitting pans with spoons , I was shocked as nearly the whole street were out showing their support.
    Quite emotional really.

It's not really them I'm talking about being idiots (although they shouldn't be on the tubes) I get people need to work and I agree their employers are letting them down however f#cktards out walking in the Peak District, sunbathing, still going to work/shops ill, having 20 strong bbq's and just carrying on as normal are just making this harder for everyone and need dealing with China style. Seriously if it were up to me I'd cart them off and leave them in there until it all gets back to normal its infuriating how selfish some can be!

Crises do bring together a real sense of community spirit though. I nipped out to put the bins out, around 8ish , just a mundane task but the whole street came out to applaud me.

    I felt quite emotional tbh

Watching Question Time and to sum up Fiona Bruce asked how long do they think this pandemic will go on, I believe it was Richard Horton who said the next 12 weeks are critical BUT this virus WILL return for a second time later on in the year and POSSIBLY a third time, first time I'd heard that very worrying.

I trust there is more than just hope!

The experts say that the effectiveness of herd immunity starts when about 60% of the population are immune from the virus and for >90% for full effectiveness (that's why almost every kid has the MMR vaccine when they are young to build up herd immunity against measles etc). If you do the sums, than means at least 40 million people in the UK will have to have had the immunity from the virus for herd immunity to even start to be effective. And given that there isn't as yet a vaccine for the virus, that means 40 million have to have been infected with the virus with all of the implications that entails! That's an awful lot of people before herd immunity has a protective effect if there is a second or third wave of the virus. Largescale vaccination will be an absolute necessity.

More than 30 million lives around the world could be saved during the coronavirus pandemic if countries act quickly, a report from Imperial College London researchers suggests.

The ideal strategy is to introduce widespread testing and strict social distancing measures rapidly.

Acting early could reduce mortality by as much as 95%, the report finds.

But lower-income countries are likely to face a much higher burden than wealthier nations.

Let's hope the human race can get this pandemic sorted or @Fordy117@Fordy117 quote of 1million could look insignificant.

I'm not trying to catch you out so no need to say 'try again' to me. I'm pointing out that you're forced to go out to work the same as lots of people. Some people have to travel to get to work and the tube is the only option they have. They're not retarded for doing it, they're doing it to survive. They don't have a choice.

In an ideal scenario social distancing and lockdowns would happen early unfortunately if a lockdown had been brought in 4 weeks earlier in the European countries or US there would have been outrage and now we are moving into places in Africa where lockdowns are harder due to way of life so death toll will be high.

ideal scenario do not come along often

we're still at the beginning of how bad this is going to get, we are likely to be on a par with italy/spain given how slowly we reacted, and how much a lot of idiots have ignored the advice. theres a reason theyre setting up a temporary morgue in the hospital at the excel centre. Best advice, stay the eff inside for as long as you possibly can.

Also, whilst the clapping thing was a nice sentiment, it seems to me its to make the people doing it feel better and its actually quite disingenuous, given half the people clapping will be back to panic buying and fighting over toilet rolls tomorrow.

Mate every IT supplier is delivering via courier. Look beyond Amazon and get your head out of the sand and stop blaming the government.
