Having a booster isn’t necessarily going to stop you catching Covid, although it does lower the chances for a while, once it takes effect. But it makes the chances of getting it really badly much lower. That may not be an issue for you, but at 67 years old, it is for me and for many others.

Also, the first jabs that were produced took four weeks or so to take full effect so it’s not particularly surprising that you caught it two weeks after your first jab. The boosters now take effect much quicker - between one and two weeks.

EDIT : No I didn't luckily my daughter asked if I would be O/K having a Covid jab severn days before my op, on ringing The Yorkshire Clinic the receptionist said no don't get another jab our they would have to cancel my operation again and I don't want that..

How convenient that the WhatsApp messages that are for ‘reason unknown’ not accessible just happen to be from the crucial period when most of the major decisions were being made (or in several cases, not made).
This is about as believable as Rebekah Vardy’s agent’s phone ‘accidentally’ falling into the sea. Do they think we were all born yesterday?

Just been told that NHS are starting to distribute lateral flow tests from pharmacies again from next month, to a select 'high risk' group to begin with

Hope you are all getting better and not had it too bad.

Out of interest did you test? And if so why? Just interested about why people generally test.

The wife had it the other week, I had something before her, probably.was COVID but then I'm a self employed tradesman so just cracked on. No work no pay makes your mind up pretty quickly.

Absolutely feckin typical of the utterly incompetent Tories, who know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Having ignored pandemic warnings, failed to prepare, run down our PPE, decimated our NHS (so that it struggled far more than it needed to) and spunked billions to its mates for useless equipment and non-functioning processes, it’s now going to dump this globally successful programme to save a few bob for tax cuts and risk leaving us unprepared for next time. We’ll just leave it to a bunch of American philanthropists to fund it, cross our fingers and hope that they don’t pull out in future. The first duty of a government is to protect its citizens. This is abject abdication of responsibility. But after fourteen years of terrible short and long term economic blunders, who can be surprised anymore?
