Health Secretary Sajid Javid will hold a press conference this afternoon.

Looks like those who want to impose restriction upon us are starting to get a little traction to force such a response.

I think they are really misjudging the publics mood on this one however. People won't accept all safety nets being pulled from other them and then restrictions placed upon them. If you are going to do one, you need to have the other to make the public come across with you. You can't decimate access to say the hospitality, Leisure & Entertainment trade then expect them to police it and pick up the costs.

If you look out and about and see the number of people not wearing masks, that gives you a good visualisation of the people who couldn't care less for restrictions.

On the flip side people can not expect the NHS to reduce the backlog if the numbers keep going up, not that therre seems to be loads and loads going into hospital currently.
Will be interesting to see how the figures look during half term

It's nuts. The people who want to force restrictions seem to be the ones who simply want some news to talk about and have something the criticise the government for.

The government is there to reflect the will of the people and you only have to walk around for 10 minutes to see what that is.

It's what happens when you get people like on this forum calling for certain restrictions like vaccine passports to come in because it's seen to be doing something when they don't even know the rules which apply to them or what they are supposed to be protecting them from. When even scrutinised a tiny bit, it is seen that 92% of cases would bypass such a restriction rendering them completely pointless.

In Germany you have to wear a N95 or FFP3 mask in public areas. Now that is a policy that actually makes a difference because these masks are proven to offer some prevention, and if I were in an at risk group I would be wearing one of those masks to protect myself rather than shouting for other to put a piece of cloth on their face which does very little.

I've said all along (however I have been asked to provide proof by someone on here ;)) that if you are going to bring something in as a restriction it has to be seen to make a tangible difference for it to be imposed and not just accepting anything on the basis that it is better than nothing. Reducing the speed limit to 69mph from 70mph will have no impact on road safety and should not even be considered such are the negligible (if any) benefits. However if a stretch of road has had multiple accidents along a 1 mile stretch then lowing that to 50mph from 70mph would show a tangible benefit and therefore it should be considered.

Any type of mask and vaccine passports are in the box marked negligible (if any) benefit.

But here's the thing and I ain't trying to get into a argument of who is right or who is wrong however 4 people that I know of have passed away since April within weeks of taking the vaccine and not one of those had any medical issues beforehand so the families are all saying the vaccine played a major part in their deaths. I know of others who have been ill after the vaccine one who can't work due to migraines at present. This is why I keep saying the safety of the vaccine is questionable and as I said previously there is a strong possibility people could suffer from serious health issues in the near future according to doctors. Maybe just like the sudden rise in myocarditis for instance what if in some way the vaccine has links to big C
Cases or other diseases and heart complications. I can't prove it does at present but can anyone prove it doesn't either.

So what I keep saying is in reality death figures should drop if the vaccine works if it doesn't and we have extreme amount of deaths then usual then questions need to be asked regarding the vaccine.

Whatever is said during the press conference today is likely to be an update on where we are and no doubt as they dropped the Delta Plus variant yesterday a further reason to push for booster jabs and taking the jab the first time.

As for the "media" I can see it already.

Every single one of them in their full time highly paid jobs which do not suffer any concequences for restrictions or lockdown will no doubt be going all out with questions pushing for restrictions. They will ask for ask for masks, they will ask why we aren't on plan B, etc, etc. I'm calling it now.

Talk of 100,000 a day to build up the scare. Does it really matter the number of cases if the issue is the NHS

Just a matter of interest has anyone seen the podcast from Gary Neville where he states the uptake by footballer's is extremely low. If that is the case then has he rightly says why don't the FA come out and say why the players are refusing. There must be a valid reason why so many are declining the invitation to be jabbed considering most clubs were offered the chance of the first dose during the summer and the second in September.

Yes according to him the uptake is less than 50% and has you go down the leagues even less.

I know Talksport the other week said Newcastle squad was fully vaccinated wolves and our friendly neighbours 90% but after that the other 17 were less than 50%.

Looks like updated information is showing a better picture

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/58972242

apparently figure for 18-36 is about 60% for at least one jab so PL are above that
