They seem to be splitting up the country with their ‘low-tax, low-regulation investment zones’. Seeking to set up areas, which will not contribute to Society, yet expect dwindling Public Services to support them. It is an effort to privatise/deregulate and remove checks and balances. All part of the ‘little Government’ movement.

Little government is such a dumb concept in the UK.

I actually understand it in the Southern United States, where the church is seen as the main provider of support to families and communities - but here in the UK, it makes no sense whatsoever.

Except, obviously, to save rich asshats some more money that they're not going to spend.

    This says it all!

‘Liz Truss has said the creation of more “high-paid jobs” will get Britain through the cost of living crisis crisis, as she resisted calls to impose a windfall tax on the oil and gas giants’

‘A Conservative cabinet minister who is paid well over £100,000 a year has called for workers to accept "pay restraint" to control inflation.

On the eve of strike action by rail workers Simon Clarke, the chief secretary to the Treasury, attacked workers’ demands for wages to keep pace with the cost of living’.

‘Analysis of the mini-budget by Resolution Foundation said “only the very richest households in Britain” will see their incomes grow as a result of the tax cuts.

The wealthiest 5% will see their incomes grow by 2% next year (2023/24), while the other 95% of the population will get poorer as the cost of living crisis continues’.

Yes vote for this Government, be grateful that you are allowed to live in the glow of their management of the country.

Vote for tax cuts for the richest, falling numbers of staff in the NHS, increasing waiting times to see a GP, underinvestment in all elements of the public sector. Shortages of workers. The pound collapsing further than any other G7 country. Problems with border controls. Just vote for the InCONpetence!

One fantasist on this thread would have us believe that this government is chucking money at us and yet we moan. Give your head a shake and hang it in shame.

His other big fantasy is that the vast majority of the population think like he does.
I'm well aware that I'm somewhat to the left of the norm - though nowhere near as much as he likes to think I am - but he is a long way to the right of the average voter.

Maybe in the pubs you go in. But half the voting population is female and very few of them even go in pubs, let alone think like you do - apart from the the unrepresentative crackpots that rise to the top of the Tory Party. And many blokes these days, especially younger ones, have far more liberal social views than you do.
Your reply simply confirms what was already obvious - ie you think that everyone thinks the way you do based on the unrepresentative sample of people you mix with.
You've openly admitted that you've never owned a passport. That, in itself, demonstrates just how extremely insular, parochial and out of step with normal people your narrow minded set of opinions are

We'd be fine as long as we stuck to discussing City. It's surprising how often @Tony Wilkinson@Tony Wilkinson and I agree on City matters.

It demonstrates that you have a very narrow, closed, Anglocentric view of life, based, in part, on no experience of visiting other countries. It puts you in the less than 20% of the UK population (many of whom will be children) who don't own a passport. So it makes you highly unrepresentative of the general voting population in this country, despite your delusional belief that you are just an average Joe.

I go the pub quite often, but I avoid the nobheads. It’s quite easy, they’re normally the ones gobbing off the most about not being able to speak what they think. The pub bore.

I agree. Confidence and certainty. Taking borrowing to that level causes a lack of both.

Sorry. Don't know what you meant about space?
