As many have said, GB seems to know what he wants. Maybe he has said give me an extra £40k for the extra workload and I'll work without a new assistant.

A very long reply with very little substance with regards Drurys postion at our club going forward, always what happend in the past.
The only time Drury would possibly have any major input was when he was Collins assistant two very young men given positions they could not handle, but if you think Drury had any input whilst Hopkins was here I'll have to disappoint you both Hopkins and now Bowyer will do it their way as it is their heads on the block.
I fully understand the situation I also believe Bowyer will give us fans a good season and a team we want to support not just because we have cheap season tickets, along with Drury's help of course.

Trevor ............ I loved all that, truly, I did.
As my last contract finished ..... I 'signed up' on the Old King Dole ......

My (very young) 'Work Coach' asked if I had considered 'work training' to enhance my career prospects ? In reply - I asked them if they had actually read my CV ?
    NO !! ..... They hadn't ! I suggested they did.

The end result .......... FOPMSL ...... The DWP sent a 60 year old, highly qualified person on a bloody NVQ 3 LIFE SKILLS course, of all things, ha, ha, ha.
EIGHT weeks, I will never get back. The ONLY good thing I got out of it was to help my fellow learners understand, and appreciate their own worth much better than they did beforehand.

You’re right. Nobody can fairly judge him on his coaching credentials. But, just as fans have criticised the likes of A.O’Connor, O’Donnell and Wright, fans will make an opinion on what they see.

And I saw us looking disorganised, poor when defending set-pieces and even worse attacking them. As a first team coach, (that had the job under 3 managers/head coach), he is the only consistent factor and so yes, I hold him to account.

I didn’t see one player improve under his coaching last season. Surely, even with the mess going on around him, we should expect to see improvement from at least 1 player under his coaching?

It's hard to argue against any of that but a couple of players marginally improved as the season went on - Anderson did get better, Lewis O'Brien was a better player than when he arrived and Devine started a few games and looked ok. Hardly high praise but I think it's hard to judge anyone with last season shambles/players.

What a load of rubbish. Just because you haven't played at a high level doesn't mean you won't be a good coach. It is well known that a big part of Thierry Henry becoming a world class player was because of Wenger and he didn't play at a world class level. Mourinho barely played but that hasn't stopped being a world class coach and manager. Sarri won the Europa League last year and again he barely played professional football. Danny Cowley never played in the football league but that hasn't stopped him being a top young manager.

But how can you possibly know that they wouldn’t have been worse without his input? Maybe the improvement in November and December was mainly down to him until Hopkin fecked it all up at Barnsley by messing with the formation. I don’t know. But, unless you’re privy to behind the scenes information, nor do you.

I would suggest what your posting is rubbish, The ones you mention are managers or head coaches who set the style of play, Under them they employ the best coaches they can to impose the style the manager wants and also work with players on a daily basis improving technique and skill, Top coaches mean better players that is why the top clubs pay to get them. Bringing what in fact is a youth coach to try improve the players skills is poor

Wenger was a head coach so he was still responsible for coaching the players and improving them which is who Henry acknowledges as the coach that took his game to another level. One of the best coaches in this country and a massive part being Sir Alex being so successful was Mike Phelan who coached most sessions to develop some of the best players in the world and he wasn't a world class player. Another top coach is Paul Clement, professional league appearances = 0 and made his way up being a youth coach. Plenty of lower league players have gone on to be a top coach. The current England striker and attacking coach is Allan Russell who never even got a cap for scotland and it was his set piece moves which we used at the world cup. To use the Lincoln example thier assistant manager Nicky Cowley who has even less playing experience that Danny. This is the Liverpool coaching staff and 0 of them were top players yet they now coach some of the best players in the world and now champions of Europe https://www.thisisanfield.com/clubinfo/staff/

How do I know we wouldn’t have been worse without his input? Was it even possible to be any worse? Defenders not defending. Midfielders not tracking back. Rarely cutting out crosses and opposition having a free reign in our area.

What exactly can you provide to suggest his coaching helped us?

Did they all get fast tracked too and by-passed their ‘apprenticeship’ by coaching the youth sides and reserves, before stepping up to the seniors?

I’d be okay if he had done his time and actually worked with the reserves for a couple of seasons. The fact that he hadn’t is what concerns me.

Let’s remember that no manager or head coach appointed him into the role. He was given it (just as Collins was) by Rahic. Now we’re stuck with him. Had a professional chosen him then fair enough, but they didn’t.

I guarantee he won’t get another contract at City and will either get released before his current deal ends or it simply won’t be renewed. Any of you Drury-backers want to take me up on a £10 bet?

Is that a ‘yes’ to the bet I offered? See, I’m prepared to back my opinion with cash. You?

I'm not a Drury backer and I haven't a clue if his contract will be renewed when it runs out, so what exactly is the bet?

My gut feeling is that I want Drury out of the club due to the Rahic/Abbot/Collins debacle. But both Hopkin and Bowyer have worked with him. Bowyer seems okay with having him around.
I trust Bowyer. He comes across as a proper football manager. He might prefer someone else but he appears to be happy to have him around. That’s good enough for me. Let’s see where the future takes us. Football evolves.

The bet is quite clear. Not sure what the confusion is. Those that are stating Drury may be a good coach and that the fact Bowyer seems happy enough with him, they are happy.

So to those with this opinion, I’m betting that Drury won’t still be at the club when his contract ends. He’ll have either already been moved on or we simply won’t renew.

    Simple really
