Installing Collins was ridiculous, but there wouldn't have been a problem if he stayed in his position.
Because Rahic and Collins were in the wrong positions, we were screwed.
Is Drury in the wrong position as assistant coach? Based on what?Offcomedun and Bronco like this. -

Do you blindly accept and agree to every decision made by the club? It seems that way, because irrespective of the decision, you always try to put a positive slant on it...!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
- He was not appointed assistant by any of our previous managers.
- He failed in his only job at BPA.
- He was in charge for 1 game and we put in one of our worst performances of the season
- The first thing Bowyer did was to replace him with Todd.
Hope this helpsStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

You may believe that we need an Assistant Manager, but that's a different issue from whether Drury is a decent coach or not. None of you know whether Drury is a good coach unless you've actually observed him coaching or have reliable inside info from those that have. -

My point is that Collins was fast-tracked to assistant under Edin. I saw nothing from him to suggest he was right for the job. Then, Hopkin brought in a fitness coach to work with him and double up as his assistant. When Hopkin left, Bowyer brought Todd, despite having McElhone and Drury still at the club.
Neither manager rated him clearly. So why is Bowyer now expected to work with him now? For me, Drury should revert back to working with the u23s and younger, possibly taking some sessions with the 1st team too. But Bowyer should be bringing in an assistant to work directly with himStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...BradfordBanter and Fordy117 like this. -

I'm not saying I agree with the decision to not replace Todd and McElhon. I agree that it is disappointing and possibly short sighted.
I'm simply saying that no one can single out Drury as being not up to the job of coach (not assistant manager) without knowing far more than any of us know about his coaching methods and what instructions he was working under last season. I'm not saying he's good either - I simply don't know and I suggest that you don't either.Allotment Bantam and Onside like this. -
The only time Drury would possibly have any major input was when he was Collins assistant two very young men given positions they could not handle, but if you think Drury had any input whilst Hopkins was here I'll have to disappoint you both Hopkins and now Bowyer will do it their way as it is their heads on the block.
I fully understand the situation I also believe Bowyer will give us fans a good season and a team we want to support not just because we have cheap season tickets, along with Drury's help of course.Offcomedun and marshy77 like this. -
As my last contract finished ..... I 'signed up' on the Old King Dole ......
My (very young) 'Work Coach' asked if I had considered 'work training' to enhance my career prospects ? In reply - I asked them if they had actually read my CV ?
NO !! ..... They hadn't ! I suggested they did.
The end result .......... FOPMSL ...... The DWP sent a 60 year old, highly qualified person on a bloody NVQ 3 LIFE SKILLS course, of all things, ha, ha, ha.
EIGHT weeks, I will never get back. The ONLY good thing I got out of it was to help my fellow learners understand, and appreciate their own worth much better than they did beforehand.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

My gut feeling is that I want Drury out of the club due to the Rahic/Abbot/Collins debacle. But both Hopkin and Bowyer have worked with him. Bowyer seems okay with having him around.
I trust Bowyer. He comes across as a proper football manager. He might prefer someone else but he appears to be happy to have him around. That’s good enough for me. Let’s see where the future takes us. Football evolves. -
