Coaching staff

Manager/coach he was working with players. It doesn't say that he played any games though does it? Either way, I think we could and should be doing better - he only got a coach role because of some ER madness, he was a youth team coach.

 

But you've no way of knowing how much or how little any individual member of the backroom staff is responsible for those results.

I think Parky was only on £50k plus bonus, presumably a decent bonus in the Wembley and promotion season.

From what I hear Bowyers is doing all the right things behind the scenes to rebuild. No fuss.

 

Manager and coach are different roles. You can be good at one and bad at another.
I'm not denying that the circumstances of his appointment were bizarre, like much of what happened last season. I just don't see why people are so quick to condemn him with so little reliable information. It seems to me he is being mostly damned by association. I can't believe that Bowyer would put up with him if he's as bad as some on here suggest.

Might as well bring Collins back if we're keeping Drury.

Point is Drury highlights everything poor from last season and I am not convinced this is Bowyer's choice!

£50k + £1,000 for every point over 50 points apparently, certainly during one of his seasons.

 

But one of the main people behind your worry is still here and will be on the side lines next season.

Collins and Drury was a joke of a management team.

So next season Bowyer looks to his left and then right and makes the decision himself.

It's a massive mistake having Drury as a number 2. Huge!

 

I think the comments on here are a little disheartening tbh. You also love a good moan don't ya? None of us have any idea if Drury is a capable assistant/coach but most have seemingly made up their minds up.

Bowyer at the very least would have known the situation before hand. If he felt that the backroom staff he's inherited was going to be a major hindrance to him and our chances of success then I doubt he'd even be here. If he's happy , then so am I!

After the shambles of last season I've been happy with the professionalism on and off the pitch this closed season. Let's not throw our toys out of the pram over nothing- there's more to be cheerful about atm than not. Who knows, maybe Bowyer holds Drury in higher regard than some of us think?

I don't see this being as big an issue as it's being made out to be. Bowyer will have been in with the decision making process on whether he wanted to bring in another member of the coaching staff, and has clearly opted for player recruitment instead. Trust the man, he'll know what he's doing.

Imagine the melt down if Drury is one of the “models” for the new kit and then jumps on the till in the shop whilst thousands of happy Bantams purchase this seasons home shirt complete with sponsor logos peeling off

 

I’d be pretty sure that Drury is there to ‘coach’ the system decided by GB - if he can take orders and implement what he’s told then he should do fine.
The problem was Collins - and the fact he was fecking clueless.
