This is nothing like the fiasco of the L**ds badge. Firstly, City asked for opinions, followed up, presented an idea, and have asked for feedback from City supporters. Secondly, this badge incorporates that feedback, albeit within a framework of what works in a digital age, and is the epitome of fan consultation, which, some might suggest is the reason for the negative response - you can't please all of the people, etc. I've watched City (from afar for most of that time) for only about 30 years and I don't think it's a bad badge at all.
Is any design going to be acceptable to the majority? Our experience as fans has included a few different badge designs that were invariably liked and hated in similar ways to nowadays just without the social media reach. Whatever was presented to us had to be accepted and became loved. As, I think, will this one. Until they change it.

Personally i long for the pre internet days when clubs changed badges at the drop of a hat and nobody thought twice about it.

Plus what does the current badge 'say about our club' that the new one doesn't ?
They both include a stylised bantam and the letters 'BCAFC'.
The only difference is the stripes, but they could easily be incorporated into variants of the new design.
In any case, stripes have hardly been a constant feature in our kits designs.

Why pay good money to advertise a a proposed logo that you openly said may not be used? Or produce a video? Etc

    Bring back the bantams

Just as new kits split opinion so will the new design. Maybe fans feel this is an erosion of the clubs identity, but a younger audience will grow up thinking this design should never change. As has been mentioned before, we've had many changes to the badge over the clubs lifetime, but the most recognisable feature to neutral football fans across the UK are the colours, claret and amber. Therefore, is the badge really that important?

The thing is, if you don't like a kit one specific year, you know it will change in 12 months.

I didn't like having white as our home kit, but was confident it would change this season.

If we change crest, and I don't like it, that's probably that for my lifetime if they only change every 30 years or so.

I definitely think the club have done right with the survey, let's just hope they are swayed by the majority

If Sparks met Macron the other week to sign off the kits for next year I’m guessing a decision on the new badge must have been made. Can not see them using current one again

I would support a change of badge if the design was universally welcomed. The one put forward by the club clearly isn't and i can see why. I've seen fan versions that have been more warmly appreciated and i would have to question just who the club have employed to design what is genuinely an amateurish effort. Its not a good reflection on the company who designed it either.

    I quite like it.
People do need to start untwisting their knickers though. I'm not sure if it's amusing or sad that we have grown adults arguing over a prancing chicken?
Badges? We ain't got no badges! We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinking badges!

Yes the 'badge' is important. It's our identity, it's what defines us. Like our colours and our emblem, the Bantam. Imagine if someone said to Newcastle or Manchester United that we are gonna change your identity, they would want some say in what the future emblem will look like. And so do we .

I agree to a point but if it was that important why was it changed in the first place?

Badges change, but colours don’t (unless your Cardiff). The badge needs tweaking but if not, I’m sure it’ll be recognisable over time just as all the others were.

In your examples Man United are a global brand and changing would probably be more difficult and costly to implement. As for Newcastle I’d say the black and white stripes are more recognisable than the badge (in the UK).

First of all, there are much worse things posted by people here which is let go than calling someone brain-dead. You only take offence to it because you know you were intentionally acting brain-dead and trying to belittle both me and my points so you can justify your backwards and badly informed viewpoint. You continue to do it with this post because again you are making it out to just about enamel pins

And the simple fact is they HAVEN'T managed to deal with it which has been shown both in the club's examples and the examples I have shown you. The logo ends up being different in every single medium because the current badge was designed where it didn't really matter as at the time when branding and merch were financially insignificant. You need both brand consistency and you certainly don't need new design work being done to make it suitable for each use. Rather than having a logo that they can send over the vector file and its ready to go they either have to get someone in make changes each time or they have to have the manufacturer sort it which will come with worse terms. Both mean everything takes longer and eats into profit margins

And I have to use the club's badge for some things relating to this site and every week it causes issues for me every single week. It is one of the worst badges in League 2, perhaps one of the worst badges in the whole of English football as its both poor dimensionally and also the fine detail and lack of separating lines on the bantam make it problematic.

If you are going to make allegations get a clue. Not only can I not find a single thread where I've ever directly replied to you but I've only ever deleted duplicate posts on prediction league entry threads.

Even with the Star being moved it's still nearly double the height as it is wide. If you drop the BCAFC (or maybe make the star and BCAFC smaller and place both in the blank space where I put the star) it's still slightly taller than wide but it might be close enough that it may work

That's the funniest thing about the uproar. Many people are acting like it's a logo you have had for 100 years and that it has this national and even global recognition. Maybe if when you were in the PL you had been able to establish yourself there may have been an argument over keeping it almost as it is (Even keeping it there needs a redesign specifically everything above the shield) as there can become where the recognition of the logo outweighs a design that's not fit for purpose but City aren't anywhere near that despite what some want to try and make out
