Presumably Stuart saw something in him whilst at Scunny, and was surprised they released him.
Hopefully Levi repays that faith and goes on to be a success here.
Because I had never heard of him until this summer, I will reserve judgement until I have seen him play for, whenever that might be!
Welcome to the Bantams and good luck to the lad

Imagine the day that our approach to recruitment extends beyond 'freebies that the gaffers worked with before'.
I'm sure I read somewhere that other clubs use a system called 'scouting'.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Carts #CTID, Stevay_b, Bantam-in-Greece and 10 others like this. -

I'm trying my best not to judge any player that we sign this summer until I've seen them play because I probably don't know 99% of the player who are reasonable targets but when even the press release for the signing can do no better than "hes not got a set position and tries hard" its quite difficult be overly positive.WilsdenBantam, Bronco, Bantamsteve and 4 others like this. -

Adam Chickson anyone? Bright young fullback who can play in a number of positions across the field.
Tyrell Robinson anyone? Bright young winger who can play full back or in a more attacking role (now he's an INSIDE forward).
Danny Devine anyone? Hard working local lad who can play any position he wants, but still can't get in the team.
Neil Mellor anyone? Versatile defender who can play right back and also defensive midfield.
Shall I go on?`
Anyway, as I promised myself this season, I am not slagging anyone off until Ive seen them play. Good look to the lad. Anyone who chooses the middle name Levi over his actual first name of Jack, must have a bit of swagger. Either that, or the name Levi runs through his genes. From the local. Paper
The one player in particular who can count himself extremely unlucky is Sutton. He’s the best academy graduate in recent years, still only 23, and gives valuable versatility at either right-back, central midfield, or even a deeper-lying holding defensive midfield role when tactically requiredStop hovering to collapse... As others have said, it's a lazy signing. Cheap and McCall knows him so ticks every box for us. Seems to be a jack of all trades, master of none type, who was only rated at his last club because he's a local lad. Not to mention he's facing a three game suspension at the start of the season. So forgive me if I think this signing is pants.

It would be nice to sign a player with a specialist position. Bang average players who are squad players seem to be a favourite for this club. Good luck to him and hope he does well and nails down one position.
Let's hope the next couple of players are specialists rather than jack of all trades....How, pns1945, Rogered Tart and 2 others like this. -
Watt played well against us at Carlisle bit lightweight but good on the ball and is a good ball player . With regards Sutton how many of our football pundits had heard of Meredith before he arrived ?. Give him a chance before the gallows come out .

Why does "The utility talent" always read as "not really good enough to hold down his own position but keen enough that he'll fill in elsewhere"?

Don't see anything wrong with the signing tbh.
Every squad needs a player or 2 like him and he'll replace Devine / Anderson in the squad. Scunny offered him a contract I believe pre covid and he will now be cheap.
The days of signing 'first team' players will not be back until the club can confirm paying fans will be back or its a massive bargain as players become desperate.
Most clubs are in all out survival mode and I expect a significant number of teams will struggle to fill a first XI, let alone a bench.
I think it shows we are in a better position than mostDoodle, Tom Hallett, Bronco and 1 other person like this.
