If we're been honest Brighouse will make some money from the gate receipts and regardless if had no contracted players in the squad, a lot of them have played at a higher level than Brighouse. It was a tough test for them and GB got to look at some potrntial players, everyones happy.

My advice to anyone upset about not having a contracted player in the squad is to not go to pre season games, they mean absolutely nothing so the team could quite easily reflect that.

 

Apart from the fact that tonight’s has nothing to do with City other than the kit and team name

 

The trialists can think whatever they want. Perhaps every single one of them went into tonights game with the intention of earning themselves a contract. It doesn't mean that Bowyer also went into the fixture with the hope of being dazzled by 14 trialists and then handing out 14 bloody contracts at the end of it. Atleast some of them must have been there to make up the numbers and it's not concievable to suggest otherwise.

 

It was a good chance to look at a good number of trialist and for that reason it was a good thing

I agree.

I feel Bowyer stays close to a number of the traditions of almost old fashioned management and one of those would be getting trialists in and giving them a chance. I don't have a problem with it. Gives us a chance to unearth a potential player and gives them a shop window to impress others or gain some exposure to sell on to another club.

It feels like he's getting all of them in in one go and we'll probably see 4/5 stay on and the rest wished good luck. Nothing to lose from it in my opinion.

 

Be the same on Sunday. Liverpool kit and name but nothing else

Well tbh not bothered who turns up in a red shirt, this is not like a proper friendly.

If GB wants to give a run out to trialists so be it, not bothered either way, it gives him a chance to see how they compete in a competitive game. It’s a win win, Brighouse Town get the proceeds and we get the match.

 

If we had played majority of the squad tonight and 1 or 2 had got serious injuries there would have been a meltdown by some fans saying why play them against that team. I'm sure brighouse will have been aware of what was going to happen regarding the team tonight and we're happy to play the game.
