Good turn out from city fans, pie & peas excellent. Tuesday night football for 8 quid on a summer night, who cares if it’s a team full of trialists. Good payday for a small local non league club.

    1) Oliver Byrne - didn’t have a great deal to do to be honest. Do we need a 3rd keeper?
    2) Rhys Jenkinson - Played for Brighouse 1st half & came on as RW for City 2nd half - meh
    3) Andy Taylor - didn’t stand out to be honest.
    4) Regan Bootly - solid enough, some good touches but nothing special, given opposition
    5) Charlie Fox - Excellent first half, good in the air, left sided CH, good eye for a long pass.
    6) Josh Martin - steady away, seems a little lightweight for L2
    7) Lionel Ainsworth - not helped by the pitch (long grass) looks a little rusty
    8) Chris Taylor - some good touches..nothing special on this performance may be worth another look?
    9) Myles Hippolyte - took 2 pens well. Seems to have something, but never going to dislodge likes of Vaughan, Doyle & Clayton. Sorry to say but I don’t think we need him.
    10) Mason Fawns - didn’t play pulled up in warm up
    11) Chay Tilt, Good first half, difficult pitch, some good crosses, good pass, improvement on Patrick as he takes the ball with him when he runs! Hit & miss one on one, needs to improve final ball.
    15) Naughty Naughty (sic) looked good, likes a run forward, solid, pace...worth another look
    12) Reece Flanagan - steady away, nothing special
    14) Luke Wall - ditto
    16) Alkeo Bani - can’t remember if he came on...?

Footnote if you thought a ‘shirt off their back’ was a crap prize for last season’s halftime draw, tonight’s first prize was a box of veg!

If he's better than Patrick, he must be worth a FOUR year deal.

Apparently Halifax have beaten us to his signing.

... well, he was always going to be one of the Shamen

1-0 City lead at HT. Team full of trialists for us.

Myles Hippolyte (CF) converted a pen in 20th min he won himself when chopped down in the box.

    Fairly even game.

City’s best moves have all come down the right through Chay Tilt, an ex QPR right winger. He has pace, though missed a one-on-one and also shot straight at keeper from a tight angle after intercepting a back pass. Gibson-esque from him so far.

Nortei Nortey has got stuck in at RB and likes to get forward.

Josh Martin has looked calm at centre half.

Lionel Ainsworth keeps cutting over from the left. Would prob prefer to be on RW tbh but has a bit of quality on the ball as you’d expect for one with his experience.

Hippolyte is putting himself about up front.

Brighouse have wasted a few free-kicks which they’ve put over the bar.

If we're been honest Brighouse will make some money from the gate receipts and regardless if had no contracted players in the squad, a lot of them have played at a higher level than Brighouse. It was a tough test for them and GB got to look at some potrntial players, everyones happy.

My advice to anyone upset about not having a contracted player in the squad is to not go to pre season games, they mean absolutely nothing so the team could quite easily reflect that.

C'mon. We have a player called Nortei Nortey playing for us tonight. That is just brilliant.

No idea. @BoingBoing@BoingBoing forced me to boycott after finding out it was full of trialists so we didn't go. Ended up giving away our green flares to some local chavs.

Of course it was they represented city tonight. We want as much of the squad as we can turnout for the Liverpool game and the matches that follow. So this was a chance to have a look at all the trialist without disrupting the team going forward i I doubt that any more fans would have turned up if we had played more first team players.
If we pick a decent player out of this it will be well worth it

Bowyer is trying to get our squad back to where it was. This was probably his last realistic chance to get some of these lads a run out before it ramps up this weekend.

If we sign 2 of them as a result then it’s a success for us. And that’s all that matters.

Who said we probably won't be having any trialists this pre season? Classic.

Don’t City notmally say it will be a ‘City XI’ for games like this?

I only went to try see the likes of McCartan, French and Longridge, but it doesn’t really matter. It was worth the 8 quid admission to see Nortei Nortey in the flesh and have a good chuckle!

As if your getting your knickers in a twist over a friendly!

Bowyer can pick who he wants. Good chance to see a few trialists while giving a local non league team a bit of £.

To be fair he could have played the youth side. What he did was play a side of trialists who have something to prove. Brighouse therefore got more of a game than other Bradford XIs in the past may have gave them
