The EU members have had many referendums for different approval of treaties and other membership issues, I never mentioned the UK or continued membership that was only in your mind not in my post

Ive never understood why people are happy being the 5th largest economy. If you remove the USA as a whole we go down even further. California and New York states alone have bigger economies than the UK. We used to be number 1 and being in the EU took us from being the sick man of europe to being arguably the strongest. You may disagree but the economy will only shrink as a result of brexit which will take us down the pecking order even further. I just dont get it.

When have we had the number one economy in the world other than the British empire? We haven't.

Margaret Thatcher and her Tory government stopped us been the sick man of Europe and was nothing to do with the EU, We suffered from a TUC with over 8 million members believing they had a right to run the country and organising massive and continuous strikes, From red robbo trying and succeeding in destroying our car industry to unions leaving bodies in trucks and a three day week due to miners striking and mountains of rubbish in the streets, It was a direct challenge to who runs the country after a disastrous Labour government had previously brought them in to the heart of the government with tea and beer at number 10 that emboldened the unions, The EU had nothing to do with it, The cure eventually was hard to take with mass unemployment and anti union laws but it did bring sanity back to the labour market

Finally Theresa steps down, let's get on with delivering what the majority asked for.

The House of Commons numbers remain the same. What do you expect a new PM to do to get something through, because the leader may change but the game remains the same?
    • Hard Brexit - large majority of MPs against?
    • Revoke Article 50 - large majority of MPs against?
    • A compromise deal that few people want, which is likely to end up being a very soft Brexit?
    • A 2nd referendum?
    • A general election?
Because no matter what the public may want, that is the choice facing a very divided House of Commons. I'm sure Guy Fawkes would have had something to say about this lot.

You seriously need to educate yourself especially history, You are making a fool of yourself,

"Throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, the United Kingdom was frequently called the "sick man of Europe", first by foreign commentators, and later at home by critics of the third Wilson/Callaghan ministry, because of industrial strife and poor economic performance compared to other European countries.[9] This era is considered to have started with the devaluation of the pound in 1967, culminating with the Winter of Discontent of 1978–79, the period between the Three-Day Week in 1973–74 and the IMF bailout in 1976 is generally seen by Britons as one of the darkest periods in the country's modern history. May was both a soft and useless negotiator ( and PM ) as confirmed by those in the EU who laughed behind her back, A new PM who is a Brexit fan and who has a modicum of skill may well re negotiate a new deal for the UK

Exactly what was said today by Robert Peston with regards a new "brexiteer" PM, he or she would want to re-negotiate a new deal and if the EU would not budge they run the clock down until 31 October.

Two very interesting videos , and .
Just how incompetent our negotiations have been, our only hope now is for a massive vote for Brexit party to at least start to regain some pride, and get a Leave/Brexiteer Prime Minister in power.

The selection for the next Tory leader will be interesting :

    Boris Johnson Brexiteer – 3/1
    Dominic Raab Brexiteer – 5/1
    Michael Gove Brexiteer – 8/1
    Jeremy Hunt Remainer – 10/1
    Andrea Leadsom Brexiteer – 16/1
    Matthew Hancock Remainer – 16/1
    Rory Stewart Remainer – 16/1
    Sajid Javid Remainer – 16/1
    Penny Mordaunt Brexiteer – 20/1
    Amber Rudd remainer – 33/1
    Jacob Rees-Mogg Brexiteer – 33/1
    James Cleverly Brexiteer – 33/1
    Priti Patel Brexiteer – 33/1

    I prefer Rabb or Leadsom

Would choose Raab but Penny Mordaunt would be another good choice and very very capable as a politician but do not think they will pick another female,
Would avoid Boris like the plague because we would end up spending more time debating Boris than Brexit

Perhaps that's what needs to happen ? Boris distracts everyone with himself and we finally get the hell out in October with No Deal !

Strange that all these Brexit supporters now vying for the PM job we’re nowhere to be seen after Cameron resigned. All bottled it and left May to do the impossible. I’m no fan of hers but if she hadn’t stepped up then what would have happened. All these vocal critics of her and the deal who now want the job are a bunch of hypocrites and backstabbers in my eyes. Sadly that’s the state of UK politics at the moments.

He was the biggest bottler, saying what ever the outcome of the referendum he and his side kick Osborne would see the electorates decision through, I'm wary about Boris and his gaff's, the bookies favorite, I like what I've seen of Rabb, Leadsom, and Mordaunt looks/sounds a feisty lass.
