The thing is Smallwood was out the picture and with so many games played and to be played it may have been to much for McDonald. And as we were playing this kind of opposition it turned out to be worth the risk. H would have been slaughtered if it had gone badly

 

He certainly would, but as I posted more about points on the board rather than another excellent performance as the KM Dons game.

 

GA said in his post match interview they had tried it out on the Friday, but Stubbs was only told on Saturday.

 

4 centre halves. Against bottom of the league Sutton. In the end we won. Good. Walker, Odur and Halliday had excellent games. But I think with a less negative selection we would have won much easier. And it would have been so much more enjoyable.

We do come to be entertained. We want to some flair from our forwards. Apart from Halliday none of the other 5 or six defenders could supply this. Not surprising they are defenders. But we did have players on the bench who could.

This formation now might become the norm for the rest of the season (we cannot play all five centre halves can we?). I found the game difficult to watch, which is unlike me. Chances if promotion are about 7-1 at best. If our best chance to do so relies on another 7 or 8 matches like that at Valley Parade is it worth it?

Get Wright, Chapman, Smith and Pointon off the bench. Two centre halves should be enough.

 

Is Halliday one of the players we have an option on-if hope so. He’s good enough for this league and I’d say if we were to go up too.
Regards the Stubbs midfield choice-surely there’s a youngster you can throw in who actually is competent at playing there?

 

I am not sure we would have won much more easily. They were very physical and as someone else pointed out recently they have become very hard to beat. This was a much different physical test from the previous match and we did well to come out with the three points

 

We would have won more easily if he who must not be mentioned had put away the chances that were put on a plate for him.

I was quite impressed by one of their subs - No.50 Duke-McKenna who seemed to play on the right wing.
Very fast, tricky and a sod to mark!
Out of contract in the summer I believe.

 

He is on loan from QPR. I think they might need him in League 1 next year. I was puzzled why he didn't come on sooner or even start.

 

I enjoyed it immesurably more than the many, many times we've played the bottom team and lost or drawn

 

I didn't bother replying to @NorthernMonkey myself, but I would have written the same as you. But I am noticing some posters quoting comments from different parts of the game, and then making it seem like these comments are made after the game. It's clearly just for likes and if that makes them happy, then cool
