Well done lads.
stubbs did ok in the middle! Another assist for Odour, lovely finish from Kavanagh.
Cook should have bagged two.
Walker was rock solid between the sticks….again.
Banana skin avoided, well done lads.

For those who expected us to win yesterday's match easily, Sutton's recent league matches show they have become very difficult to score against. Since they were thrashed by Stockport last year, their last 6 away matches have seen them:
- win 1-0 at AFC Wimbledon
- draw 1-1 at Mansfield and Walsall
- lose 0-1 at Gillingham, Morecambe and City
Sutton's current problem seems to be converting their own shots on target into goals. If they can get that right, they may yet get themselves out of the bottom two positions.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Oduor played very well probably his best game. Good teams win games when playing poor and another clean sheet is a bonus!
Halliday, Gilliead, back three all did well. Ridehalgh just offers nothing at all and Cook had a poor game too.
Overall, a difficult game but we came out with 3 points so, a great week for us! -

Stop bloody complaining, we are 2 thirds through the season, it’s been a drab affair and this bunch of players are limited, we know that much for certain. But right now we have won 3 on the bounce, a game away from Wembley, and 2 points off the play offs. Mate I’d resigned us to finish this season 5th or 6th bottom, and we are now becoming the form team. I’d have taken this all day long after the Swindon and crawley games -

Not the dullest game I've ever seen today, made hard work of getting the win due to a patched up midfield. A draw would probably have been a fair result but all about taking your chances.
Special mentions for the ever dependable Halliday, Clarke Odour and an ever impressive looking Sam Walker in goal. Cook forgetting his scoring boots but I have to admire the shift he put in, running half the length of the field in the last seconds for a potential pass from Wright epitomising a player with a renewed vigour. -

Game panned out as I expected against a team battling for survival.
Walker, Halliday, Gilliead and Odour the stand out players for me.
Halliday MOTM for me.
As for big Sam in goal. Early days, but he is fast becoming a firm favourite with me. Very calm, yet commanding presence, and for the first time in years, we look to have a keeper who is not afraid of crosses -
He’s been good the last 2 games and I never thought I’d be saying that. Had a hand most/all of the goals against MK and was instrumental in all our chances yesterday

Not sure whether it's already been mentioned, but the most inspiring moment of yesterday's game was Filipe Morais at HT. He clearly became emotional talking about Darbs, it was very moving. And the depth of feeling that team obviously had for each other goes beyond what you'd call team spirit. A huge kudos to him and Duke, and all the others who've been raising money for a magnificent cause to try and overcome the most horrible illness.

Solid performance and the record books will show 3 more points. Was never going to be free flowing football.
Looking hard to beat right now. We had half a team out today with suspension or injury so I will take 3 points all day long.
Liked what GA had to say after the game about squad rotation and learning from previous mistakes.
Odour and Kavanagh were the difference second half and what a calm composed finish from the young lad. We have a right player there.
Finally Walker in goal-what a calm and composed keeper with two terrific saves today. Comes and catches crosses etc. Must give the defenders in front of him real confidence.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Big turning point today was Walkers excellent save from their header,if that goes in we’re 1-0 down and heads drop. Not long after we scored the winner. Fine margins but we deserved the win with the clear cut chances we created and Cook should have got a couple.

It wasn’t a match that lifted us off our seats, but grinding it out on a team that are rock bottom. There are 6 teams between us and the playoffs. Odour played well plus Kav. We need a much better midfield for next week.

It was good to come away with a win and a clean sheet in what would usually be a banana skin match for City against the side at the bottom of the league.
Most of the match was forgettable, but I really enjoyed the one pattern of play showing real skill that won us the match. Oduor is playing very well lately.
I liked it that we applauded the 87 travelling Sutton fans when the crowd numbers were announced, and not in a sarcastic way either. Some effort to travel all that way when your team is at the foot of the table.Onside, Inspector, Rogered Tart and 4 others like this. -

Good move for the goal, shoes what can happen when a keeper releases the ball early. My absolute pet hate when keepers hold the ball and let everyone get back into position. We need to do it more because the option is always there.

He referred to it in this weeks pre game interview.
The pass that split their defence in half for the goal was something we have been absolutely missing for months . On that basis, he deserved it over Halliday.Doodle, Onside, Offcomedun and 4 others like this.
