Today showed what platt and songo'o really are. Good defenders when dealing with meat and drink long balls and heading it away, however up against pace, and skill both are a million miles away.

Smallwood the least said the better, although it's good to see he is getting the required amount of grief today that his performance deserves. Home game by home he gets worse yet time after time It's Gillead who gets digged out instead. He didn't have his mate critchlow to play ten yard passes back to today, so he'll be upset at not been able to pad his passing stats out.

Northampton different gravy to what we have come up against at home so far, solid, proper game plan and attacking with speed with a few passes on a transition instead of our 13. Double up on our widemen, like they did, and it's job done because absolute zilch will come from chapman, Smallwood or Gillead.

Shambles from start to finish, however it's at least a shambles in 5

First half hour we weren't so bad, we arguably played worse first half against Harrogate and Crawley. But after that half hour we were generally bloody awful. 4s and 5s in Parkers ratings tells you all you need to know. Worst defensive performance of the season, could and should have been a 6 or 7 nil drubbing

What was most frustrating for me yesterday was that we are more than capable of beating Northampton but was let ourselves down.
I genuinely went to that game looking for a solid home win off the back of two great away wins.

It was a fairly even game up to the first goal and then we sort of imploded.

I had just looked at the clock and saw we had been playing 24 mins and thought blimey that has flown by. Was enjoying the contest-two capable teams going toe to toe. Good game and then......

Songo'o-well I shut my eyes when he is swinging his leg to kick the ball. Cook and Oliver colliding numerous times. Did notice Oliver won virtually all his headers though. Smallwood off the pace again at home-cannot be the crowd as Hull are also well supported so he would be used to big home crowds.

Why was Wright not brought on at HT? Eisa had a few shots from range but cannot recall him beating his man to get a cross in. Wright got behind them a few times and looked really dangerous.

I did notice we ditched the playing out from the back for large parts of the game.

We were well beaten by a team that wanted it more on the day.

Exactly. It's a weird one; he proved earlier in the season how he can take a good corner. If he now has a problem in judging distances, he should take a bag of balls down to VP and practice corners for a couple of hours each week (and probably free kicks as well!). There really are no excuses for not being able to find a team mate in the opposition's penalty area from a static position.

No but you have to have exciting football to the lift the crowd. Out home performances have been as dull as dishwater in the main

Second best in every department. A bit of a lesson really, but we seem unwilling to learn them as our home form has been sh*te all season. Only real difference today is that a good side exposed where we’ve been poor in most of our home games. Only real surprise for me was that when we had the penalty we didn’t try and pass it back to the keeper.

Is Smallwood undroppable? Today he was garbage. Going for the Hollywood ball way to often, didn't run about or get stuck in, lost possession more times than he won it. I'd play East over him if I had a choice.

To be fair mate, until Smallwood gifted them the first goal, followed by another gift for the second, I felt that we were the better team and was quite confident of a win.

Northampton couldn't believe their luck and of course, their tails were up. They could do what they wanted knowing that we were toothless.
It's easy to play when your opponents let you.

Time for MH to look at his undroppable captain who, for the past few games (at home anyway) he's been terrible.
Time to take him off set pieces too, terrible deliveries on the whole.

I've never left early but understand if anyone did, what with the poor football on show and the wet weather. One thing i've not really seen commented on is the pitch. We've had a deluge of rain the last week and although there was standing water it held up really well. Credit to the club for at last giving the players a decent surface to play on.

I left early on 86 minutes. It is a rare occasion. I was thoroughly fed up with the team, plus other factors. Am I ashamed. No not at all. In fact I don’t feel like going to the next match so might be missing for 90 minutes. I am no lover of 4th division football. However I do enjoy the endeavour that happens in this division to make up for the lack of skill. Yesterday far too many players gave up and the score in all honesty could have been a lot worse.

To be fair, it's because Hughes sounds a little like Southgate after the game claiming the plan is working, so he unlikely to put a rocket up them when he us happy with the dross, bother at club and country level.

Watching England was like watching City at home.

@Kevin1954@Kevin1954 , this is why the atmosphere is sh1t.. I'm sorry but the"clap harder you b***ards" attitude is well past its sell by date.

The numbers that turn up deserve better and when they get it, the atmosphere is electric. Anything else to justify this nonsense is just that ....... nonsense.
