That's not strictly true. We are as good at Mansfield and Salford as Northampton were today. We've proven that we are a good side, but just not at home.

We hadn’t seen Northampton until today and we haven’t seen Orient yet but if Orient are better than Northampton they are better than us

2 man advantage? We played 2 deep central midfielders and 1 advanced central midfielder, so we were 3 vs 3 to a point. Not sure where our 2 man advantage comes from?

Platt and Songo'o is an awful centre back pairing. I thought it would be bad when the team was announced. It was as bad as I feared.

Either can play with Crichlow or probably Odusina once he's had a run of games and got up to speed but together they just don't really want the ball and so totally contradict Hughes playing out from the back philosophy.

    That’s daft.
Northampton lost to Salford/Walsall and drew with Sutton.
We beat all 3 so obviously must be better than Northampton…..oh wait….

Ok so you agree if we’d matched their 4-3-3 formation we’d have been no worse off yet would have had more attacking options instead of the bore fest of hoping Cook does something from the minimal occasions the ball comes into the box.

I am not the one slagging the manager off when we are entering our usual period of being totally shit in 5th place -suggest you get a more balanced perspective. Happy for you to come back to me at the end of the season and call me out for being too positive if we don't get promoted.

I'm not slagging anyone off. I'm just expressing very reasonable concerns about how our manager sets the team up at home and deals with the tactical challenges provided by opposition teams at VP. If he's the manager we think he is he'll address the issues in January and we can kick on. We all hope he will do that. Time will tell.

I don’t follow your logic. I’m saying that we played a similar system and got comfortably beaten and if we’d played 2 strikers (as you’re advocating) we’d have been even more comprehensively beaten. 2 strikers doesn’t suit Hughes’ tactics, you need the 3rd central midfielder to facilitate the build up / passing out from the back which is how we play.

Like I said in another post, the system worked for the first half of the first half, we were evenly matched and the game was pretty open. The goal seemed to totally rock our confidence and we crumbled. I’d say that is a bigger issue than the formation.

Completely different scenario. You may turn out to be right but the way we play we are far better away from home. I can genuinely see us getting a result at Orient regardless of how poor we were today. We absolutely need to sort out the home form (and the returning Walker and new blood in January will hopefully help) but there are not many better than us on the road which is why I see us being there or thereabouts come April time

As soon as we try and go 4-4-2 with that squad we look like a disorganised rabble. Just aimless balls to Oliver where it's a lottery as to where his header will land. Walker gives us a better option with 2 up top but as it stands its usually that central midfield two played at home that is usually the Achilles heel.

Today showed what platt and songo'o really are. Good defenders when dealing with meat and drink long balls and heading it away, however up against pace, and skill both are a million miles away.

Smallwood the least said the better, although it's good to see he is getting the required amount of grief today that his performance deserves. Home game by home he gets worse yet time after time It's Gillead who gets digged out instead. He didn't have his mate critchlow to play ten yard passes back to today, so he'll be upset at not been able to pad his passing stats out.

Northampton different gravy to what we have come up against at home so far, solid, proper game plan and attacking with speed with a few passes on a transition instead of our 13. Double up on our widemen, like they did, and it's job done because absolute zilch will come from chapman, Smallwood or Gillead.

Shambles from start to finish, however it's at least a shambles in 5

So many reasons to get this team to perform at home.

I seriously cannot understand why folk are defending that shite today ??????? He’s had it straight in his face that set up doesn’t work and I’m talking about months of it but does he change ???? Does he folk ....... there 1st goal was down to errors but that was always coming on the way we st up .............ffs the Harrogate was an eye opener we absolutely play brilliantly away from home picking 6 points from two dodgy away games ... ..., What does he fooking do wastes it all on that negative shore set up :( the players and the squad are good enough sadly him at the helm and his arrogance will cost us big time

Agreed on the CM pairing at home. I would like to see East over Gilliead at home, he’s much more accomplished on the ball and always looks much more positive with his passing.
