It was the 1st half that cost us today
Its all those home draws we should have won
    Mentally not strong enough

Sadly we have blown it, Mansfield will see off Leyton Orient on Tuesday and knock us out of the play offs. It’s been a strange frustrating season especially at home, had some great away results but over reliance on Cook who’s been sensational has cost us dear. I would say Hughes has been too cautious at places like Walsall, Crawley,Newport all winnable games but if we’re honest did we really go for it in those games?

Terrible first half, sort of similar to Tuesday night. Very tough to take 97th minute goal when surely there was not that much time, but whatever, we should still have won after taking the lead. It’s not over yet and as for the imbeciles sending death threats - crawl back under your stones. Pathetic.

Agree totally but would just say these knobs are not football fans, just keyboard warriors who attach themselves to football so they can spout their purile comments for attention

Nowt like a bit of goading mate, we went to Wigan the match Robinson scored that scorcher, Will Grigg was warming up just to the side of us and we were giving him some stick he gave as good as he got that day nothing nasty just good banter, telling him if he couldn't get in the Wigan starting 11 he might as well retire, or come and play for a team that had more traveling fans that Wigan had home fans, he said (amongst other things) your lot couldn't afford my wages on reflection he might have been right.

Probably someone trying to get the ground as full as possible for our penultimate home match, great incentive and another positive from our club!!!

He must be regretting that move? Found it weird at the time, a team that never plays wingers buying an out and out winger mid-season. In his first few starts that tried him up front, not really his natural game but his last start hey used him as a left wing back and he got absolutely slated by the fans, dont think he's even made the bench since.

I can see why he did it, reckon he'll have been offered a decent wage with a standard 25% increase on promotion, agent will have got a better fee too. But it's not like the guy was an experienced winger with seasons under his belt. Think we were his 4th loan and it was the only time he'd looked good in his career so far, should have built himself whilst the going was good, rather than climbing the ladder too soon.

Now we will see if Hughes has the tactical nous needed to turn games round and get the wins needed or is it beyond his ability

Spot on. We have the same flaws on display all the time. Games like today aren't the exception, they're the rule.

Gutted. Didn't deserve any more than a point though.

    Results totally against us elsewhere.

I think we will be 8th going into the Northampton game after Mansfield play their game in hand on Tuesday.

Sad to say but that will have knocked the stuffing out of them.

Cannot see us making playoffs now.

I do think we lack bottle imo, today Mansfield and Crawley in particular stand in the mind.

    Anyway, on to the game.

Where on earth did 8 minutes come from?

The first half was a joke. We were lucky not to be 2 nil down.

How bad was Nevers? He should have been subbed after 20 mins.

Second half was better but it’s still all Cook or nothing for us? Lewis made some class saves but at 2-1 up I have to question the subs we made.
Lewis at fault for their 2nd goal.

City can’t be a Cook or nothing side. We are not good enough as a team to count on one player.

I thought their corners were well executed with the ball continually landing in the danger areas. Our focus on zonal marking allowed them to pick and choose where to position particularly their taller players. It's why Crich was giving away 3 or 4 inches when marking Hawkins and Lewis struggled to get to the ball to catch it cleanly. We haven't learned yet that at this level, few clubs use zonal marking and we need to adopt a more flexible approach.

At the end of the day, it pains me to admit that Gillingham were the team who wanted it the most. They looked as if they were the team with an outside chance of an automatic spot rather than us.

I do hope I'm wrong mate but not sure on todays showing we can get enough point from 3 awkward games to get a play off place, I'm gutted to draw in the way we did although it could have been over as a competition at half time, Gillingham bought well in January and it showed today a very useful side on the ball with loads of off the ball movement giving their players option going forward, just how we should be performing at Valley Parade.
Even the likes of Manchester United can fall foul of playing out from the back why does Hughes believe we are good enough and persist even as you say a team plays the high press game, we were very poor with regards winning second balls and I was more than surprised when Nevers came out for the second half then showing a bit of quality with his ball to Ridehalgh for the cross for Cook to equalise.
I can see Gillingham being a very strong contenders next season with new American owner Brad Galinson backing the manager with transfer funds.

I agree felt like a loss today. Fair result in all honesty. Just wish we had that killer 3rd goal in us more often.

So what can you do ??????
Is there a mystery buying in the background ?????

I know you’ve got issues with him but he can’t be blamed for what’s happened this season that is totally on Hughes he’s been backed and failed to get us where we should be ........... we are good enough but his sets ups or lack of simply going for it will cost us this season :( had this Bradford City over the last 2 months turned up in August we would have walked this league but the reason we haven’t is down to one man sadly
