Agree with the formation but I'm not sure about Dion. He's had no game time whatsoever and will be extremely rusty. Probably not a game to gamble either.

I still think moving Walker to the left and playing Derbyshire in the 10 is just about our best option while Chapman is out.

Don't think so Onside. However, on this performance we shouldn't fear either of these two if we get past Carlisle.

Be great if we could amp up the atmosphere and make it nice and loud

Last night's match had a real Conference North feel about it...

    Absolutely

Fantastic highlights, despite some frustrations along the way, we’ve had a brilliant season on the whole. Great home atmospheres at times, unbelievable highs at away games - Mansfield, Stevenage and Northampton been right up there. Some excellent players too, much better than we’ve had in previous seasons, Tyriek, Clayton, Stubbs, Lewis, Halliday, and the amazing Andy Cook. Most other fans have to wait until next season for more football, while this lot have given us more to play for

This video is a great summary of a wonderful season, and regardless of what happens in the next 2 (or if we’re lucky, 3) games, it bodes well for next season. Even the most pessimistic of fans (you know who you are) cannot deny it’s been a successful season. The players get it, the management staff get it, the fans get it

Bring on Carlisle, I cannot wait

It has been said so many times before, but a midfield combo of Clayton and Smallwood and Gilliead offer so little going forward
Banks helped create the lone goal for us and offered the crucial outlet for us, Sky had him as man of the match but for some reason City were making our number 11 MOTM?

Praise for both Stubbs and Crichlow for keeping Carlilse from scoring but this team is going to have to do better next game

Couldn’t agree more yes he’s had a terrible injury but his touch is dreadful. I don’t trust him and surprised Hughes does

I know I'll get stick for even suggesting this but 10 minutes to go why not let Nevers or Pereira have a run at them, I get it Derbyshire is an old head and slow the game down but a quick lad might have had Carlisle not throw everyone forward, but overall far from disappointed with the result, straight on the ticketing web site in the morning to get 2 tickets for next Saturday.

I accept he’s coming back from a terrible injury and it’s probably on his mind, but he offers nothing in attack or defence. Once he came on he was continually being reminded by Smallwood where he should be and not to forget to pick his man up. I’d almost opt for Pierera who at least can keep the ball and give Carlisle something to think about when we attack.

From a distance it looks like Cook is being constantly fouled but when you look closer Cook actually leans into defenders with all his weight, so they have to essentially climb away from him to win the ball so it looks like they're then manhandling him to the ground.

The loss of Chapman has proven to be a real issue for us. We don’t have anyone capable of playing LW which means we either ditch the 4231 system or put a square peg in a round hole out there (eg Osadebe). Didn’t like the 433 today as Walker drifts too central and we have no width on the left (for attacking or defending).

Agree with the other comments Osadebe seems a bit of a headless chicken and the other options we’ve tried recently (Eisa, Nevers) haven’t cut it either. Surprised that Pereira can’t get a look in really as we’ve tried virtually everything else.

I thought the ref had a good game last night, had to deal with a lot of theatricals in what was quite a physical game. Garner was at it right from the off, looked a total embarrassment for a supposed professional.

For context, if someone said at the beginning of the season you'd be going into the playoff second leg with a goal advantage we'd be fairly happy with that. Feels like the playoff games against Fleetwood where we went to their place with the advantage and saw out the game fairly comfortably.

What makes you think Carlisle are going to up their game? What makes you think we can’t up ours. For goodness sake!

I watched their run in to the end of the season, they couldn't buy a goal in the majority of games and i could see why last night. Patrick is garbage, Garner spends more whinging. And their manager leaves the second most prolific scorer in terms of minutes per goal in the division on the bench. I don't fear them at all.

I'm at a loss as to why we haven't played East on the left. He's a midfielder, he's left footed and he's got loads of energy. We know that Nevers, Costelloe, Osedebe and Eisa are all useless so it's East or Pereira for me there.

I agree about Edmondson. When he came on, there was more cohesion about their play and he certainly knew how to get into dangerous positions. His missed header however was appalling ... fortunately! The guy I rated most was Moxon. His place kicks were very dangerous and I can understand why they score plenty from set pieces - one of the highest according to one of the Sky pundits. I'd welcome him with open arms to our squad. In the 2nd leg, we'll again have one of the best teams for scoring from set pieces vs the team with one of the worst defensive records against set pieces. That's a bit of a worry for me.

Also worth mentioning that it was a breath of fresh air to finally get a decent referee

Yes fully agree, I have said many times this season our formation works better away from home. Mostly it’s panned out to be true, especially against the better teams in the division. Did you notice how they changed to “ lumping it in from all angles” . Just reminds me of the way Stevenage and Mansfield set up. I don’t buy this we have no advantage, of course we have, we have a goal on the board. Just look at the stats they are more even than people saw with their own eyes. My only concern is our balance. We don’t have an outlet on the left….All they had to do was cut off our supply from the right knowing there was zero threat on our left.
I wonder if a wide East may provide it ? I think that boat has sailed for the away leg though because I am sure Clayton will be playing on Saturday . To we go defensive from the off , or do we attack as the best form of defence. No outlet on the left probably means the latter is a no?
