What if that is the best Carlisle have played, certainly not the best we have played.
We have 90 minutes to reach Wembley and have a 1 goal start, same players on a different piece of grass.
If we had a decent left sided player in front of Rideaulgh , we would be so much better.
Osadibe, like the others has looked miles off.

    :joy::joy: on the curry ...

To the opposition, absolutely. Do folk not see our qualities? I'm bamboozled by the negativity this morning.

I watched their run in to the end of the season, they couldn't buy a goal in the majority of games and i could see why last night. Patrick is garbage, Garner spends more whinging. And their manager leaves the second most prolific scorer in terms of minutes per goal in the division on the bench. I don't fear them at all.

Liam had a great game last night, something I've not heard enough praise for.

I thought he did quite well against Orient but he was shocking last night

Dennis is massively off the boil too, and despite getting into a good position when he came on, his finish was very poor.

The lad Edmondson looked useful, but in that workhorse style, whereas when he got a peach of a cross he nodded well wide.

They'd be crazy not to start with the little and large of Edmondson and Dennis, though, Patrick really is a poor player. Couple of times his pace bought him ample time and space, then he slowed down until we caught him and tackled him - pretty much every time. Can't remember Garner on the ball much.

Glad Gibson looked off the pace, too, as he sometimes has that direct approach and gambles on long rangers. He's a little bit of a worry because you don't know what you're gonna get.

Even Callum Guy was quiet, and I'd have him back any day in L2 (not L1 though).

When you look at their team and not just ours, we marshalled them reasonably well, though the lad Armer put the best ball of the night in by a country mile. Looks a good young full back.

Of cause they were jubilant because losing only 1-0 with 1 shot on target and us only have 2 shots on target is a great result for them.

If we were going into the second leg 1-0 down we would be fancying our chances also.

Yes, Carlisle have to come at us at some point. Their game plan is clear.

Just felt we should have gone for it more and finished the tie off.

Some of our fans are very quick to put down our players and performances.
If Carlisle are up there for a reason, so are we.
1 of those reason's is good away form another is the 26 matches we have scored first 20 wins 5 draws and only one defeat.

Why have you stopped tagging me in posts? You tagged me in posts after the Gillingham, Swindon and Crewe games. Why did you specifically choose them immediately after the final whistle and why have you gone quiet recently?

I would feel the same normally but I just think because of the one goal we will sit back from the start and play into their hands I fear for us in this match

I would have liked another goal, I wish we would have had a go at them but its a big game and we have come away with a win against a team is as good as us. Our away form is decent, especially against the top sides so I am quietly confident.

Oh I understand the apprehension...that said, if we have a solid 30 minutes spell like last night, which we will, do you see us scoring? If yes, do you see two goals from this Carlisle team?
Hughes won't change his formula and sitting in will occur but in the main, it's proved fruitful this season, particularly in the second half of the season

Me too fellah, we are one nil up for christ's sake, and playing a team that can't buy a goal. I'm not daft enough to think this is over, but we are absolutely in the box seat and even if the odds are 60/40 to us with that, it's a lot more positive than any other play off first leg barring Fleetwood.

I'm ready and primed for a night out in London on the Sunday night !

You having a quick re-read of your "tag line" at the bottom of all your posts wouldn't go amiss.

100%. I was saying the exact same thing to my lad as we came away from the ground last night. Not many games this season we have lost by more than 1 goal. It is in our hands, we hold the ace cards, we have the advantage, the pressure is on a very average Carlisle side

Patrick’s best performances in his career coincided with lockdown and behind closed doors games, I remember him ripping us apart in one such game. But he’s a bottler, he is scared of playing in front of a crowd it’s obvious. Carlisle would be better not selling tickets in the home ends and it might get the best out of Gibson and Patrick. They’re both like the kid at school with ability, but ultimately they aren’t hardened professionals and don’t have the temperament to be. Gibson is better but not by much, another who’s scared to go into the corner where our fans are lol.

I felt for the lad Ridehalgh so many times he had no out ball, as you say with someone in front of him it would have been an even more interesting game.

That incident was particularly awful from an older player with recent Championship pedigree who was brought here for his experience and nous. To have been so totally unaware of the space he was in, not to mention the underhit backpass - one of several - is inexcusable. It wasn't as though he had to do anything fancy - he just had to turn round and carry it forward.
