Carlisle are 13th in the form table for home matches over the last 8, haven't won at home in the last 3 games and have scored 9 goals. Our away form over the same period has us scoring 10.

If you look at all form over the last 8 we are 4th and Carlisle are 17th. Carlisle have won twice in their last 10 matches, picking up just ten points. That's relegation form.

This match has 0.0 or 1.1 written all over it.

I'm at a loss as to why we haven't played East on the left. He's a midfielder, he's left footed and he's got loads of energy. We know that Nevers, Costelloe, Osedebe and Eisa are all useless so it's East or Pereira for me there.

I agree about Edmondson. When he came on, there was more cohesion about their play and he certainly knew how to get into dangerous positions. His missed header however was appalling ... fortunately! The guy I rated most was Moxon. His place kicks were very dangerous and I can understand why they score plenty from set pieces - one of the highest according to one of the Sky pundits. I'd welcome him with open arms to our squad. In the 2nd leg, we'll again have one of the best teams for scoring from set pieces vs the team with one of the worst defensive records against set pieces. That's a bit of a worry for me.

Also worth mentioning that it was a breath of fresh air to finally get a decent referee

Exactly, and Smallwood has done this al season. For how to do it see Crewe's second goal against us. Keeper rolls it out to midfielder on edge of his own D. Turns, takes it 10 yards, passes to player on halfway line, he passes down the line, ball played in for a tap in. Took about 10 seconds. That said, I actually though Smallwood had a good first half. I'm guessing he just gets tired and lazy

Honestly, I really do not understand your logic here whatsoever. If I am the only person who thinks you are talking nonsense, then i'll gladly stop following football and concentrate on a different sport

How many away games have we not scored in this season? (excluding 0-0 draws) which would be enough for us to win the tie?

answer is 4 and of them only Leyton beat is by more than 1 so Carlisle will have to do something only the champions managed all season to get to Wembley.

That's a fair point tbh. Hughes seems more than happy to protect a lead and this is fine over 90 minutes but I fear that we will try and see out the tie from here which surely can't be sustainable.

I haven't checked the stats but we do seem to go a goal up pretty early in most games. If we can do the same at theirs instead of treating this as half time then we'll get through. If we sit off early doors in the second leg then we'll come unstuck.

Last quarter of the match Carlisle seemed to be really targeting our RB position. They were hitting long balls into there repeatedly. It was obviously a planned tactic. Halliday might need some help out there on Saturday

I've listened to a few recent post match analysis from Paul Simpson IMO he talks a lot of sense unfortunately in this latest post match interview he talks a lot of crap.
I respect Simpsons take of games but he wasn't at the same game as me last night, we (Carlisle) created 5/6/7 good chances, the referee was a homer, give over, he got the great atmosphere right, Garner was a disgrace and Simpson had the sense to take him off before he got sent off, well we'll be there in numbers on Saturday (as you guys were respect) to cheer our lads home.

    I wouldn’t say it’s a mountain. If we go 2-0 that’s a maintain to climb being 3-0 over all.

2-0 and they are still in it. They have to score anyway.

I’m confident but it’s not let’s book London hotel yet for the 28th.

I know I will get pelters but providing he is fit it would be Eisa for me yes I know he had a poor game last time out but he has proven he can score goals in the past and when he was in the team earlier in the season and tracks back more as well. We will probably start with same team but if we make the substitutions then it should be him. Alternatively move Banks to the left and give Pereira a go. We need a bit of pace up front when we are under pressure. I thought Derbyshire did well when he came on as well

Totally agree. Really like the guy but 'the referee was a homer' was poor last night.
Live on Sky for the whole nation to see as well. Just came across as bitter.

Apart from his handling of Cooks encounters I thought the ref was good. Don’t know if that’s because we got the better of the decision
