Not having a proper left-sided midfielder/winger is hurting us.

A number of times the ball came out to Ridehalgh and he had no one running on into the channel. If he was lucky, Jamie Walker might have been somewhere nearby.

All he can do is cut back inside to look for a pass. He can't risk running with the ball as he hasn't got any midfield cover. That made life for Carlisle much easier.

 

I agree with most of that but don't think they will be extremely happy, we start well at their place and score that's some mountain to climb.
I enjoy the referee allowing the game to flow but some of the stuff he let go was baffling, Cook got nothing from the referee even though most challenges he had 2 men marking him one in front and on behind, then he took it into his own hands and stuck it on one of their central defenders dropping him.
What a dick Garner was I thought it would be another Donny when the fat lad Tomlin got sent off, trying all the tricks in the book to old man the referee but he wasn't having any.

 

Great post, wasn't expecting whinging to be honest.

Thought tonight was a case of job done, the last thing we needed was to have to go to Carlisle (where we don't win) and need a win.

A draw up there, 1-1, 0-0, it'll do and we're off to Wembley for a 1 match shoot out.

Yes some players underperformed, but overall the team defended manfully and Carlisle never troubled Lewis (even when they should have done).

Omari Patrick and Jordan Gibson both looked terrible, and overall Carlisle looked like a side that have run out of steam and are low on confidence up front.

It's far from over, of course, as Carlisle have the ability to blow us away at theirs, but so far... so good...

 

Garner was almost a comedy figure. Crichlow had the better of him and he didn't like it.

 

No shite, on tonight's showing I don't think their good enough not to concede if we attack them correctly as we did in the first half.

 

Also, new attendance record for fourth division play offs.

Now can those pretending we're not a 'big club' for this level finally give it a rest?

That attendance had nothing to do with cheap tickets.

 

There was one the second half. He was in acres of space but didn't even look over his shoulder. Just pinged a poor ball back towards goal and immediately put us under pressure

 

I thought he lad Ridehalgh put a shift and a half in tonight several times left on his own, I thought Osadebe would play down that side and help the lad but he drifted all over the place.

 

Well it did.

Gilly was given on the big screen but Sky and everyone else were saying Banks which would have been my choice. Was double marked for most of the game.

 

Is osadebe even a footballer ? Absolutely terrible

 

Just good to get a win in the home leg. Three times we’ve lost at home in the first leg, 2-0 to Blackpool, 3-2 to Burton and 3-1 to Millwall and twice we turned it around. It’s going to be a tense day next Saturday and feel we need to score as Im sure they will get at least 1 goal. I’m feeling hopeful though.

 

I think the manner of our performance did more to subdue the crowd than the HT break.

Re. Cook, his achievements this season can't be overstated. We create very little for him. Its all down to set pieces and his own skill.

 

Couldn’t agree more yes he’s had a terrible injury but his touch is dreadful. I don’t trust him and surprised Hughes does

Totally different game at their ground next week. They will be pleased going back only 1-0 down.

I still fancy us to do it but they will be on the coach going back now fairly confident themselves.

 

I know I'll get stick for even suggesting this but 10 minutes to go why not let Nevers or Pereira have a run at them, I get it Derbyshire is an old head and slow the game down but a quick lad might have had Carlisle not throw everyone forward, but overall far from disappointed with the result, straight on the ticketing web site in the morning to get 2 tickets for next Saturday.
