Anyone thinking they would come here and roll over needs their heads testing.

Pressure is now on them to break us down. We love playing away and haven't won at Brunton Park since 1985. Time to put that right.

The ironic thing was that we nearly got caught out after the double substitution. I don't think the players knew who was picking up who. Much prefer like for like where possible.

 

He had to catch that volley from the edge of the box. That is the one I remember.

In summary - a very good win. We'd have all taken a 1 goal win before the match.

Far from job done, but the onus is on them to break us down and all we have to do is avoid defeat to secure a Wembley spot. That is enough motivation for the lads in 6 days time.

Garner was a dick and it was him that took the sting out of our tail after we scored. Got a knudge to the body but went down holding his head, physio comes on and there's a break in play for a few minutes and once play restarted, we'd lost our focus. I said at the time I wonder if he saw how we switched off at Crewe after we scored the second and there was a break in play when the pyros got thrown on the pitch.

 

They had loads of little ones go against them that'd have had this board seething. I'm sure on their message board they'll be whinging like mad about their early booking and pen appeal etc.

This performance sums up our season. Get an early goal, let the opposition have the ball, soak up pressure, ride our luck and scrape over the line. Boring, uninspiring football that will probably get us promoted.

 

I can't remember one but the stats say they had one shot on target against our two, Banks should had done better with that one on one just before half time he's a big lad is Holy but he should have lifted the ball as the keeper came out to make himself bigger than the 6'9" he is, easy from my seat in the stand, 2 - 0 big call to get back into the game.

 

I am pleased we take a 1-0 lead to Carlisle. I am not going to criticise the players or the management team. You do not get out of this league playing free flowing football. You have to fight, claw and kick your way out of it. If we go up playing this way so be it. I don’t give a toss, I have seen awful football played by clubs and watched them head up to league 1.
The players are doing their best. I thought we played well in the first half, less so in the second but we hung onto our lead, that is just the kind of grit we need to get out of here.
Ref did not give Cook one free kick, Banks played with two men on him all the time. They did well to manage that situation. They let Jamie Walker go once and he scored.

 

It could have been part of the strategy to keep shots low, as the big keeper isn't great at getting down to make saves.

Unfortunately Banks' effort was pretty feeble.

 

Early thoughts after the game were I was a bit disappointed we didn't take more of an advantage in the first half to make it 2-0, but after getting home and thinking back with a clearer head I would of definitely took a 1-0 win before the game so can't be disappointed when that's exactly what we got.

 

Yes, that was terrible. He has no awareness of what's going on around him. He could have turned and driven us forward but played a hospital pass backwards instead

The same homer ref that let their centre backs put Cook in a headlock every time he tried to jump for the ball? I could not believe what they were getting away with.

 

I was very disappointed that after having them on the rack for the first 30 minutes we reverted back to safety first. I fully agree with Morais we should be pushing up the pitch a further 10 yards as we were doing at first..
I hooe im wrong but I think we will go up there and play negatively again

 

I think we need to avoid making substitutions in attack because our options from the bench are awful. I can't believe we paid money for Osadebe
