Thanks Al. Anyone can learn, you know.

There's lots of other stuff on here. Guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, harmonica etc. I'm a musical jack of all trades, but master of none, I'm afraid.

I'm right handed by nature and tried learning to play the guitar a few years ago but i have a bone spur on my first finger on my left hand as a result of breaking my finger as a kid and means it impedes me playing the chords. I could switch anf try and play cack handed. Honestly i would love to learn, a lot of people i admire play the guitar, people such a James Hetfield, Simon Neil to name just two. I love listening to their skills and craft, takes me away from depression and puts me in a great place. The genuis of these and other musicians should be savoured.

    Thanks Trevor.
I must admit, I'm very proud of that video. My musical contribution is just the harmonica and some backing vocals but I put the video together, from footage shot on mobile phones, using free video editing software called Shotcut. Our singer kicked it all off by sending his video, on the stool, in vertical format instead of horizontal. That meant I had to fill the screen with three shots, for most of it. It was a huge amount of work, resizing everything and synching it all to the audio track, but it was worth it in the end, even if it did take over my life for weeks.

Well mate we may not agree on a few things but anyone who can sing "Tumbling Dice" is good enough for me a great rendition Steve, we're at a 60s weekend in October and one of the tribute bands is named Tumbling Dice, but they are as you would think a 5 man tribute band to the Stones, singing that solo was excellent mate.

You might describe yourself as 'master of none' but you underestimate yourself.

Next time you're on Youtube, have a look for a couple of maestros playing together on stage. One is Tommy Emmanual (needs no introduction) and the other is a young bluegrass player - Billy Strings. The track they do as a duet is Working Man Blues. Five minutes of your life definitely not wasted!

    Edit - Found it .

I'll gladly accept your compliments Dave, but I haven't done Tumbling Dice! I assume you mean Rollin' & Tumblin', which is a much older blues song, dating back to the 1920s.

Billy Strings is an extraordinarily good player. Some of the younger bluegrass players are frightening. Check out Sierra Hull - she an amazing mandolin player. Likewise Tristan Scroggins. And Molly Tuttle is a phenomenal flat picking guitarist.

Honest Im not smoking anything, tumbling dice , yes rollin & tumbling, the Rolling Stones, Alexis Koerner Blues Incorporated were blues based bands along with many others introducing blues to the UK where few had heard it, I also enjoyed Rod Stewarts early version, and of course Claptons version.

I think the first recorded version of Rollin' & Tumblin' was by a singer called Hambone Willie Newbon in about 1929. But, for me, the definitive version is the Muddy Waters recording from the early '50s. That's certainly the one that inspired my rendition.

This might have one of the earliest riffs ever done although I suspect there were plenty before it. Lol.

Always liked this classic rework by Dick Dale of his surf rock 1960’s hit.

One of my favourite guitarists. Truly amazing. Saw him in Manchester about 2014.

TBH honest, I'm not all that keen on what he does with that song. It's probably my least favourite track from that superb Ronnie Scott's residency. I prefer my version :joy::joy::joy:

Jeff Beck is an absolute one-off. He has invented a unique technique, playing with his thumb rather than a pick and making major use of his customised, shortened whammy bar. How he does all those bends so precisely in tune is incredible.

I bought Blow by Blow on vinyl back in the day and still love it.

I think this is a much better example from that Ronnie Scott's stuff. It's both jaw-dropping and spellbinding:
