Best ever guitar riffs

Love those pinch harmonics in the outro solo. Billy Gibbons is so good at those.

 

Yes, that's terrific. It's such a vocal harp sound. When you hear Al Wilson's voice come in you can hear why the harp sounds as it does.

 

I find it hilarious that ZZ Top are known for their trademark huge beards. But the only clean shaven member is called...Frank Beard.

 

You want harmonica.

So do I but the skill of the harmonica playing gets you through it. But if it's not for you OK.

 

Eliminator was a huge success for them, on the back of some sharp videos at the time.
Played that one alot.
Can still remember the riffs without playing the songs, a good sign.

 

OK, I cracked and played it. It gets a little tedious after about three minutes, but it is phenomenally good harp playing. Will Wilde is a superb player - I've seen several of his videos before.
I'm a pretty decent harp player, though I say it myself, but that is some seriously good blowing that I couldn't come near. I still hate the song though.

i agree on the song, but I am trying to learn harp and that is just phenomenal as you say, one day..........

 

Very few harp players ever get good enough to play like that and, TBH, it's not really necessary for most purposes. Playing decent backup and fills between the vocals is as important as pyrotechnic solos.

I assume you know about playing in second position if you're going to play blues and rock, rather than folk style?

I learned by playing along to Muddy Waters and Doctor Feelgood albums, many moons ago.

 

I can bend and get some decent rhythms, not wanting to play massive solos just makes me smile how good some people get.
I will get there even if it's only to do a rhythmic backing to some of the bands I listen to. I will give it a bigger go when I fully retire.

That is top notch, I have seen many, many live bands (from 1969 to present day) and that stands up with anyone, I congratulate you on your ability and obvious love of music.
