I am for the upholding of religious beliefs. The Burka however is fashion and not compulsory to Muslims. Given the catchment area for the club it was an unwise thing to say but a sacking is a bit harsh

Cheers! I remembered the "dressing modestly" part -- which crosses religions -- but nothing further.

Your example backs up exactly what's paraphrased in the T and A, the only difference is that you've added in something the T and A rightly or wrongly haven't mentioned, which is the "irrespective of religion" bit, and that's what I've tried to address. If the alleged offender has made posts which backup your proposed viewpoint then the issue at hand is misleading information and not "paraphrasology". Accurately paraphrasing what you've just written without any hidden agendas is perfectly doable.

I was offended by Edin Rahic for over a year before he left. And quite a few of the players offended me too.

I wish someone had taken my offendedness seriously.

Are those people trying to take a public role?

Its funny because last week 2 muslims who went on the tory leadership debates were sacked following their appearance because of stuff they said on social media. So your point carries no weight.

Because anyone of that faith will probably find that offensive I imagine and therefore steer clear of the football club.

The guy hasnt done anything illegal and causing offence is something we should be allowed to do. and we are. However if you then want a job where the people you have vilified are going to be your employees/trainee's/students then you had better be prepared to be shown the door pretty quickly. He only has himself to blame.

The problem with social media is people began posting whatever they wanted years ago. They didnt think about their actions because this back tracking on what people said was unprecedented. But in future we will see less of this happening as people will most likely be more careful about what they publish and instead keep their views to every day conversation.

No, you’d probably be more drawn to it as the owner wants to ban it!

Most of us find the Burka offensive but thats not an equal argument.

The parallel argument to make is this...

If he was a muslim man who made comments years ago on social media about western women. Saying they should be forced to wear a burka. Would you agree that he lost his job after those comments were unearthed?

Fair question. Are there examples of it happening? The two people you mentioned have been suspended rather than sacked, I believe. If their comments were lawful and their views on such matters had no obvious link to the nature of their role, then why should they lose their job(s)?

Sorry, but I didn't read the T&A article. What was the racist thing that this guy said exactly?

So what you are saying is the rules for Bradford are now different to the UK as a whole and that as Bradfordian we better be very careful what we now say. Hmmmm. Scary thought.
