A well reasoned response to a subject that is often a taboo subject in todays world. Irrespective of the words spoken by the person who this debate revolves around, there has been and still is a real fear of being able to question 'idealogies' as we are finding out right now in the house of commons. Buzzwords like ant semitism and islamaphobia are too often thrown out when wanting to stifle good debate about problems that stem from exactly this sort of scenario. To allow these ideaologies to go unchallenged for fear of retribution has gone on for centuries in all religions, and for people like me who do not need or practice religion it is grossly unfair.

The complaint was made for reasons other than just being offended, it was a parent(s) that were unhappy with the way the coaches in the junior section were being asked to book there ideas up, the transfer of the junior section that the women's team has built up over several years has been taken away from them and transferred to the BCAFC FITC.
Hope the parent(s) is(/are) happy and got what they wanted, it could potentially fold the Women's team, which leaves the juniors with no 1st team to progress to.FrenchBantam, Bronco and Storck like this. -

He was very wrong, but this is the society we live in now. The "concerned fan" seems to have seen his appointment and then jumped straight onto his Facebook, presumably looking for something.

It'll become self evident in this thread. My guess - there won't be a lengthy, constructive, open and honest exchange of views where people might challenge each other and learn something. The thread will be locked to prevent offence being taken over a sensitive issue....

I don't necessarily see how a facebook post is going to prevent Muslim girls from playing football, unless he is going around telling children or the footballers that their families ought to be locked up.
I also don't think we should just assume that all Muslim women are in favor of the burqa either. The manufacturing or sale of the burqa is illegal in Morocco for example, some Islamic scholars also argue that it's a cultural invention, not a religious garment.
I can understand why the club don't want anything to do with this purely on publicity grounds though. In the world we live in it's sometimes easier to just stay quiet and avoid the wrath of the mob.RonnieBrown and ROKERITE like this. -

The BCAFC though are asking for £15k a year to sponsor the Womens teams, in the sponsorship brochure. Then really the Chairperson of said venture should really have been checked out me-thinks.

Bad idea posting stuff like that in a public forum when he has the position he does in the city he does, so. He may have thought he was sharing it to represent modern women, but he got it a bit wrong.
I agree with him though, it should be banned it’s something from the dark ages, oppressive, and has no place in a modern world. God damn bloody awful , but hey if someone wants to wear one in this day and age more fool them.
