I have a friend who runs a small brewery. I briefly enquired as to the price of a Fikin of Bright Cask beer. It would retail at £79=VAT. So £94.80. Divide that by 72 = £1.32. Make 100% profit by retailing it at £2.64! Even if it sold at a higher price of £3.30 a pint, so substantially more return than the outlay, it will make a profit.

Further update a ‘Pin’ (36 pint barrel) would cost £48.50+VAT. So slightly more costly. Using the same formula the cost would be £58.20. Divide by 36 = £1.61 a pint. If you can’t make a profit out of that, then there is something sadly lacking.

How come Coventry, Oxford, Walsall, AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley (https://accringtonstanley.co.uk/2018/07/redz-bar-opens-12pm/) from small clubs and Man City + Spurs at the opposite end can manage it?

Fair play, can't fault anyone who gets off their arse and gets stuck in. The place certainly seems a wasted opportunity at the moment.

    Am I missing something here
Surely the club should be funding the refurbishments after all they will benefit most from it We have an owner reputedly worth 120 million and are dependent on fund raising to improve such a basic facility
At work we have a conference facility but fund our own improvements I would never expect the delegates to raise funds for it
Some on here are expecting Marquee signings think it's time to re assess

I've been looking a bit more into Oxford United's offering and found this:
    https://www.farrs.co/stadium-catering/

Probably explains why I could walk up and buy a pint of real ale (Shotover Brewery), at half time, within 10 seconds of reaching the catering outlet. Plenty of City fans buying the food and drink, with no long queues.

They were selling Saltaire brewery beers at the scout derby day at the top of my road, i've set pumps up before so i know things can be done. I just don't see the demand for 'real ale' at a football match, apart from a small number of real ale fans. Football fans on the whole don't seem to care what it is as long as has alcohol in it, and theres more profit to be made from the likes of carling and john smiths type drinks. Don't forget, on top of the profit you are advocating you have pump set up and staff fees.

I think there is an expectation that the staff at City would serve the drinks and the pump set up is usually on a deposit which is refunded at the end of the event. It is relatively simple to set it up.

Well done to Bingley Bantams for driving this forward.Regarding the comment fans wont contribute, season ticket holders have already paid there upgrade for a bar that needs a bit more than a coat of paint . My view is that the club could be approaching sponsors and local companies to back this project. I do believe the caterer have supplied carpets and equipment in the past. This is not a go at Bingley Bantams i do applaud what you do to help the club along with the other supporters branches.

Not that easy bud. We are hiring a 6 pump bar for the beer festival to serve the real ale. You also need to include racking and cooling jackets.£350 for the day. People don't give these things away

Very interesting points Stafford. I would buy into that but City seem like they are happy with the deal they have.

I appreciate your point. However this is the point of supporters group. It might be a drop in the ocean in the great scheme of things but every £1 the likes of us and Shipley Bantams pump in is a £1 the club can spend elsewhere.

Really? How is it that at other football grounds I have visited over the years, beers and lagers from brewers other than Carlsberg are being sold? It doesn't appear from my own experience that Carlsberg has any kind of monopoly inside EFL grounds.

Do they? I could have sworn that Centreplate (now owned by Sodexo) have the contract to the kiosks at VP! ;)

So let me get this straight? Bingley Bantams have a whip round, do a fantastic job, pay to refurbish the Bantams Bar and then a man allegedly worth €100+m makes more profit, or loses less? Or have I missed something?

So do you agree that the kiosks which sell Carlsberg products exclusively are not run by Carlsberg but by Sodexo?

And therefore my earlier question to Glenn still stands!

Do you mean before or after the contract negotiations that are currently going on are concluded. The club are well aware of the issues surrounding beer quality and price.

Reeves and Scanell had enough time on their hands last season to shake the cocktails
