There are limitations on the beers that can be served inside the ground due to our tie in with Carlsberg.

But it's clear from the suggestions board thread that improving choice and offering craft beer is popular. The Gin and Beer festival will be an interesting event and I'll be attending in both a pleasure and research capacity :)

We want to pilot a Fanzone which can offer a variety of beers, food and entertainment which currently is not available inside. So hopefully having local breweries will happen. Watch this space.

Here's an idea if you don't want to help Bingley Bantams fund the refurbishment don't.
It's getting as bad as the crowd funding for the dressing rooms/score board the other year, if Bingley Bantams are happy to pay for the refurbishment what's it to do with others.

You have hit the nail on the head here. Supporters groups are there to help the club. On this occasion instead of just handing over a cheque to the club which would just be swallowed up the club readily agreed we should take on a project which specifically benefitted supporters.

I can only speak for myself but the Club are missing out on my money due to the terrible beers and food on offer. Yorkshire produces some of the finest beer around and Bradford City should be looking at local options instead of the corporate swill currently being sold. The one thing I thought the German Chuckle Brothers would get right was the catering because it is generally better and cheaper at stadiums on the Continent but, alas it's still Carlsberg, Tetley and 40% pork sausage rolls for the punters! I'll spend my £s elsewhere pre and post match!

So let me get this straight? Bingley Bantams have a whip round, do a fantastic job, pay to refurbish the Bantams Bar and then a man allegedly worth €100+m makes more profit, or loses less? Or have I missed something?

I met with Keith and Ian Taylor from the Bingley Bantams to discuss the project and I'm really excited about the plans.

They and other supporters clubs do brilliant work beyond their valuable contributions at supporters board meetings.

I'd recommend fans attend their nearest supporter clubs and to go along their events. The manager and senior players will be appearing at Q & A meetings in the coming months.

Bingley Bantams are holding a Beer & Gin Festival at the Northern Commercials Stadium on the 29th June.

It's only £5 for a day of fun and you'll get to bump into a few of your City heroes.

Get your ticket here before they sell out.

Never mind painting the bantams bar, Reeves and Scannell could have painted the forth rail bridge with the amount of time they had on their hands.

    Hi,

I have made comment on here about the great work that Bingley Bantams do, but that extends to the many supporter's clubs, many of whom contribute to specific initiatives, player sponsorship. Beyond that they do an amazing job providing an array of away travel options.

There will be a full media release and acknowledgement when the Bar is unveiled and ready for use.

    Thanks

It seriously needs it. It's certainly the ugly duckling of the suites at City. Fair play to Bingley Bantams and all those that have contributed their money, time & effort to the cause

Don't use the Bantams Bar but do they have any local beers on? If not, could that possibly be an option in the future if only to support local breweries?

The problem with having hand pulled 'Real Ale' is that once it's open it has a fairly short shelf life, As it's only open Saturday really it just isn't feasible.

Also the bars and food have once again been franchised out to Carlsberg so what is served is up to them

Re-decoration of walls and windows etc. Brand new lighting ( 64 ceiling panel lights !!) New ceiling tiles. Additional seating in the form of bar stools and poseur tables. New toilet cubicles / flooring / hand dryers in toilets. This will take us a while to finance fully but we have agreed to take it on and do what we can when we can. Decorating and new lighting is the minimum we have promised during the close season.

    Am I missing something here
Surely the club should be funding the refurbishments after all they will benefit most from it We have an owner reputedly worth 120 million and are dependent on fund raising to improve such a basic facility
At work we have a conference facility but fund our own improvements I would never expect the delegates to raise funds for it
Some on here are expecting Marquee signings think it's time to re assess

Well done to Bingley Bantams for driving this forward.Regarding the comment fans wont contribute, season ticket holders have already paid there upgrade for a bar that needs a bit more than a coat of paint . My view is that the club could be approaching sponsors and local companies to back this project. I do believe the caterer have supplied carpets and equipment in the past. This is not a go at Bingley Bantams i do applaud what you do to help the club along with the other supporters branches.

They don’t have to pay for it but it probably isn’t a priority for the club at the moment either so if the people that use it want to improve it then fair enough.

I was at the Etihad two weeks ago. They have Carlsberg as their sole draught Lager! However they also have hand pumped JW Lees beer. So not sure how that works?

Perhaps ask Carlsberg if they have additional options? Has anyone actually asked?

I think if you want to engage with potential customers you have to find out what they actually like.

Personally I do not like carbonated alcohol, which has been UHT. I will avoid it.

So rather than attracting me, the fact that a bar has an old fashioned bland tasting 60’s carbon dioxide infused drink, is going to deter me.

Did the club undertake any market research, specifically with Bradford City season ticket holders, perhaps an online questionnaire ?

When the club signed the Contract, did it put it out to tender?

    Which organisations were approached?

Was the option of traditional beer even on the agenda (in addition to lager)?

Thanks for confirming the situation with the concourse kiosks etc despite what somebody who professes to know about these things had posted earlier. ;)

You haven't however responded to my earlier question. This is the question I posed to you earlier ...

"How is it that at other football grounds I have visited over the years, beers and lagers from brewers other than Carlsberg are being sold? It doesn't appear from my own experience that Carlsberg has any kind of monopoly inside all EFL grounds."

I assume that by purchasing Carlsberg products via the EFL arrangement, Carlsberg do have some kind of veto of which other brewers' products can be sold on the concourse alongside Carlsberg products. I also assume that your comment 'we're very heavily rewarded to supply Carlsberg products' really means that the club can buy from Carlsberg at such a low price, it would be madness from the club's perspective to go elsewhere for alcohol and hence as you say, lose significant income.

It sounds like the club is faced with a difficult choice; either selling Carlsberg beers exclusively at the kiosks and not giving fans what they'd prefer or selling other brewers' beers without the cheap Carlsberg products and the club not making as much money. Is that the inevitable trade-off? Some clubs seem to have taken a different decision to ourselves and prefer to sell their fans a better product without being tied into Carlsberg's very cheap prices. Any chance of the club taking a similar stance?

If you wanted ‘Cask’ real ale, then the version which would be suitable would be ‘bright/ready racked beer’. The sediment is removed at the brewery and the beer can then be ‘pulled’ fairly quickly.

The following is professional advice, ‘ready-racked / bright beer no settling is required however wait until the spile has stopped foaming or breathing before tapping. 4. At least two hours prior to serving, tap the beer (for ready-racked beer the barrel can be tapped and served immediately).

I went to the 1911 centenary celebration meal held at the Midland Hotel. The owner of Saltaire Brewery was sat at the table. They had provided beer for the event (a hybrid of Cascade if my memory is correct). I think they are actually a ‘fan’ of one of the North East clubs, but that shouldn’t be a problem. If Bingley Bantams can arrange a ‘real ale’ (and Gin) festival, with a bit of determination there is no reason why it could not be done. In the first instance they could use ‘pins’ which hold 36 pints, to test the market so to speak.

I am sure @StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam could act as a consultant/quality controller!;)

Could be wrong but think they have a small brewery within the ground (that could be BS btw :joy:
