It doesn't matter i think it's brilliant the fans want to get involved and pay their "hard earned" into the club It's the club letting them do it without either acknowledgement or offering to contribute the same amount that I find discourteous
Hopefully the club are they saving their pennies to bring home our "friend"

I get both sides of the discussion. I suppose it is similar to investors in the club. Investors who put money expect a return in hard cash; the fans putting their money in via BB and other supporters clubs to complete maintenance and upgrades don’t require money back, but do receive a feeling of doing something to help the club and ultimately enhance the experience for fans using the Bantams Bar.

I am a member of BB and I haven’t been consulted individually or collectively about this project, but it is part of the BB ethos to support the club. I wouldn’t have objected, but I do think it is a fine line you walk as a supporters club when you undertake this type of project. Supporters clubs give money to the club all the time, we sponsor players and balls, and individual games.

You have hit the nail on the head here. Supporters groups are there to help the club. On this occasion instead of just handing over a cheque to the club which would just be swallowed up the club readily agreed we should take on a project which specifically benefitted supporters.

And this is where the Club should receive a slap on the back ........ For putting fans first (even it the Club do benefit).

I was at the Etihad two weeks ago. They have Carlsberg as their sole draught Lager! However they also have hand pumped JW Lees beer. So not sure how that works?

Perhaps ask Carlsberg if they have additional options? Has anyone actually asked?

I think if you want to engage with potential customers you have to find out what they actually like.

Personally I do not like carbonated alcohol, which has been UHT. I will avoid it.

So rather than attracting me, the fact that a bar has an old fashioned bland tasting 60’s carbon dioxide infused drink, is going to deter me.

Did the club undertake any market research, specifically with Bradford City season ticket holders, perhaps an online questionnaire ?

When the club signed the Contract, did it put it out to tender?

    Which organisations were approached?

Was the option of traditional beer even on the agenda (in addition to lager)?

To avoid the cask/keg issue why not stock bottle beer/craft instead from local breweries? Different brewery per month - opportunity for 9 different breweries to supply the ale for the season.

They can't as they have a contract with Carlsberg so it's up to them

Can’t see the FL or the police being that happy over glass bottles, and I can’t ever remember seeing ale in plastic bottles.

Thanks for confirming the situation with the concourse kiosks etc despite what somebody who professes to know about these things had posted earlier. ;)

You haven't however responded to my earlier question. This is the question I posed to you earlier ...

"How is it that at other football grounds I have visited over the years, beers and lagers from brewers other than Carlsberg are being sold? It doesn't appear from my own experience that Carlsberg has any kind of monopoly inside all EFL grounds."

I assume that by purchasing Carlsberg products via the EFL arrangement, Carlsberg do have some kind of veto of which other brewers' products can be sold on the concourse alongside Carlsberg products. I also assume that your comment 'we're very heavily rewarded to supply Carlsberg products' really means that the club can buy from Carlsberg at such a low price, it would be madness from the club's perspective to go elsewhere for alcohol and hence as you say, lose significant income.

It sounds like the club is faced with a difficult choice; either selling Carlsberg beers exclusively at the kiosks and not giving fans what they'd prefer or selling other brewers' beers without the cheap Carlsberg products and the club not making as much money. Is that the inevitable trade-off? Some clubs seem to have taken a different decision to ourselves and prefer to sell their fans a better product without being tied into Carlsberg's very cheap prices. Any chance of the club taking a similar stance?

Bar staff pour it into plastic pints like they do with tetleys in the kiosks.

I may be wrong but I thought whoever had the franchise or licence they had to by law offer a guest beer.

Never had a pint in the ground. Very likely would if they had decent ale - particularly after the game to avoid the traffic. I'd probably eat, too, if they sold some decent food. I usually get home too late to eat with the rest of the family so I order a chinese and have a quick pint in the pub while it gets cooked. There must be plenty of others like me that the club is not catching.

This one's a bit hoppy to my taste but the name and colour are good - just needs a bit of claret in the label.

If they get barrels of real ale in - you can draw off surplus afterwards without a sparkler into properly sealed containers and it will keep quite a while. I've sometimes found a brilliant ale on my travels and had them fill me an old pop bottle up (sometimes with a small discount of about 50p per pint) and it keeps well and tastes fine - unlike those crap trendy 4-pint plastic jugs that they pushed through the 90s for take-outs. They went flat in 24-48 hours.

You could draw it into 40 pint plastic brew barrels and it should be okay, though somebody would get arm ache. I found they kept for a few weeks. I never actually had any long enough to find it went off. If you want it to keep a bit longer you can get some 4 pint brew barrels that will pressurise with a small CO2 cartridge so they'll keep the air out and last longer.

There should be solutions out there if people want to look for them. There is a bit of an art to getting it all right though.

"4" pint brew barrels should read "40" above.

I understand @Glenn Ackroyd@Glenn Ackroyd saying about the tie ins with Carlsberg, but for me what is the revenue City miss out on because of a crap beer/lager offering? I never buy a pint at the ground because it's over priced rubbish and I'm sure there's a lot like me.

How can we say the Carlsberg tie in is a must if we don't see what other choice of drink would gain in terms of revenue?

I can only speak for myself but the Club are missing out on my money due to the terrible beers and food on offer. Yorkshire produces some of the finest beer around and Bradford City should be looking at local options instead of the corporate swill currently being sold. The one thing I thought the German Chuckle Brothers would get right was the catering because it is generally better and cheaper at stadiums on the Continent but, alas it's still Carlsberg, Tetley and 40% pork sausage rolls for the punters! I'll spend my £s elsewhere pre and post match!

It certainly hasn't moved with the times, its as basic as it was 20 odd years ago.

The kiosks and the catering, which this season had separate suppliers, agree to contract based upon using Carlsberg as the exclusive beer partners. Centreplate (Kiosk) and CGC (Events) have operated on this arrangement this and previous seasons.

We can have none-Calsberg drinks, but the terms of the beer contract mean that other suppliers are significantly less attractive. So any change will severely reduce the catering revenue.

The tie-in is for inside the ground, so a fan zone if permitted, will allow for more choice.
