As Bigrod mentioned, a large demand from West Yorkshire to Morecambe (and back) on Saturday will hopefully lead to more capacity being provided, but don't hold your breath.
I pity Joe Public, who just fancies a quiet day out by train with the family to Morecambe on Saturday
    Me, car definitely.

I downloaded the form to get cheap travel, but also after Saturday and thinking back to a few localish away games ive done with my son, I've also decided to go in the car.
The fact there's only one train to get you there and one back rather than regular services also contributes.
My lads only 7 and loves going to games, home and away.
We were literally in the middle of 50 lads scuffling outside McDonalds after the game on Saturday, bottles flying everywhere.
Having to tell my boy to run to get away from it isn't pleasant.
Don't get me wrong I've seen loads over the years and at his tender years he's seen a fair bit since he started going but it's getting a bit too much now

Don't worry, the police got the ringleader.

I took my daughter aged 8 to the game on Saturday. When I got to our seats I had a quick look around and knew we were in the middle of all the Schooligans, so I moved to the end block, another family did the same, then as the game kicked off the smoke bomb was set off right from where I had just been sitting.

I drove to the game and was in the car park well out of the way at full time. I'm on the train to Morecambe as my daughter is at a school party so I'm off with a few friends instead.

Atmosphere is great, but when you start to make others experience unenjoyable due to acting like a dickhead, I for one won't be sad to see these booted into the gutter.

My kids are now adults, but neither of my daughters or their husband/boyfriend relish the thought of watching or getting involved in ‘scuffling’! It can be very intimidating for young kids. Your lad is most important and getting him to and from a match without the ‘crap’ must be a priority.

Don't worry, some people think there are only 5-10 over exuberant kids having a good day out.

We walked past the so called trouble outside MacDonalds, it was no worse than a playground scrap at school, quite funny actually. Thats what you get when you mix young kids and a bit of sniff. The lads from a generation ago would piss themselves laughing at these so called hooligans, wouldn't have lasted two minutes in the eighties and nineties.

This reminds me of the playoff final against Millwall. We left straight at full time, and to my shock on the underground it was full of Millwall I thought they’d all stay behind to celebrate. But it was the family’s I spoke to one bloke on the way back to Kings Cross with his young ones, and he was saying they always have to leave early because of the idiotic section of their fam base, granted a higher percentage than us you’d expect but the way he described them they were just kids like what’s happening with us. It’s not like the 70’s and 80’s they’re just kids who want to be hard, but they’re starting to cause the same sort of nuisance as the real hooligans did back then if it keeps going.

Walked that way after game back to the station. Didn't see anything untoward to be honest. But about 20 young lads got on the platform after us, they were accompanied by old Bill so guess they may have been involved. But yes, the old guard would have had them on toast for breakfast.

This might be unpopulat on here but i really enjoyed the atmosphere on Saturday, especially in a sport where emotion and atmosphere is slowly being squeezed out of the game. It takes me back to my early days to some extent. I understand there are rules to be adhered to and that there is a fine line between raw emotion and being a dickhead but if the choice was Saturdays atmosphere or some of the mundane dull away atmospheres i’ve endured over the yeara i’d take Saturdays every day of the week.

Tbh I wasn’t there Saturday, just watched on ifollow so can’t comment. I agree the atmosphere is better when there’s a bit of an edge. But most the kids who have been letting off smoke bombs and going on the pitch have added little imo. Last edgy atmosphere I was in was probably Sunderland away last season stood near the home fans, far better than letting off some daft bomb or running on grass. And it didn’t get out of hand, although the odd dickhead nearly did.

I thought the stewards and police did a very good job of dealing with the situation. Imagine the scenes had that been at Chesterfield or similar where the stewards are of a different mind set, they’d have been pulling people off the walls and wading into the crowd. The smoke bomb thing is a fairly new phenomenum for us. Its a regular occurence abroad where fans behaviour is on a completely different scale to our country, something we need to remember when judgng our fans behaviour. It remains to be seen what effect the clubs statememt recently put out will have but if they do want to effect change then only large fines and bans will make any difference.

I agree Rog, you can't beat a 'lively' away game and great atmosphere. It's supposed to be a passionate game and full of emotions. Think it is going out of the game, especially at PL level where there are more 'corporate' tickets, tickets bought by tourists etc. Think Chelsea away where Chelsea had no atmosphere apart from the 6k of us!! Remember Keano going on about the Prawn Sarni brigade at Old Trafford several years ago.

Agree about the fine line and not crossing it though.

Surely it's possible to create a good atmosphere by standing at the back and singing, without the need for pyrotechnics and pitch invasions? I've been to plenty of away games with cracking atmospheres without the stupid stuff.

But that doesn't get the likes on Social Media for being one of the lads.....

Strangely, the "sauce for his pie" and "more seagulls than fans" songs got far more social media (and full media) attention, without crossing the line, if social media attention is what someone wants.

Went to a gig in the summer first song dropped 100's of flares/smoke bombs went off at the same time couldn't even see the stage. Seems it's the signal to show you're having a good time. I'm sure it will pass just like any other trend.

Just like the ‘trend’ to throw beer in the air at concerts or when watching the football in a bar. Football fans generally are like sheep, they see it on social media and that it has likes from the usual crowd and then imitate to feel popular. Another trend that hopefully f**ks off.
