Special mention to O'Donnell with that world class save in the second half which gets better everytime you see it.

Good signs yes. Remember Cheltenham beat us and we played better there than we did today. That should have been a gubbing instead of a 3-2 defeat. I hope for the best but ain’t getting carried away based on wins vs teams at the bottom of the league when we perform average. Not yet anyway.

we might have stepped up against a better side. I’m never a big fan of comparing performances and saying a better side would have beaten us. Sometimes you just do enough

I thought that post-hillsborough every part of the ground had to be metered. If the away-end was sold out surely they've beached they're safety licence.

Sorry to those that thought Oteh was crossing. You missed one of the very few moments of quality in the match.

Not much to say about the game today. I thought we were pretty ordinary and managed to grind out the win without having to get out of 2nd gear. Morecambe posed a few problems for us but I always fancied us to win as the game progressed.

You can’t play great every week and sometimes, especially away form home, you have to be able to take your chances and grind out a result which is what we did today.

According to @Bradford End@Bradford End Morecambe never sent us the full away allocation to sell. There was plenty of space.

Pleased with the win. Performance a bit hit and miss but it’s these kind of games that you have to grind out a win. Morecambe played quite well in my opinion and whatever anyone thinks of him, Ellison is still a pain in the arse to play against. Very similar to Windass.

Doesn’t matter how we get the points, as long as we get them.

Before half-time, on this thread, it was stated that there was no atmosphere, or at least nothing through the radio. It was suggested that a dull first half created the lack of noise.

Was it only better in the second half or were the others listening on the MW frequencies

Play together and we grow together and that will make us stronger.Remember we still have a couple out at the moment. Be nice to be more decisive at times in games but hopefully that will come in time.

“Almost every game” is a tad OTT. I think he’s missed 2 (3 at a push) from all the games played. I’ve seen Vaughan miss a couple of easy chances too this season, which probably explains why both players are now in L2
We had a clinical striker in the team last season, but created no chances for him and preferred to play him as a target man instead. You saw how disastrous that was. Having a goalscorer in the side doesn’t matter if he can’t hold the ball up and the ball spends longer in our half

Great second half performance from ROD and the more I watch Cooke in midfield ,the more I think he's a very astute signing by Bowyer.
Another quality performance from him yesterday. Some of his cross field passes we're sublime and he's not afraid to put a foot in.

Only he wasn't clinical. His confidence was shot to pieces and he couldn't even do the one thing he was supposed to be good at which was shoot.

Not all goal scorers have good hold up play, and it's silly for you to suggest otherwise. Have you heard of the term "poacher" before?

I didn’t say he was clinical. I said we had a clinical striker. He’s shown prior to joining us and again since leaving, that he is a clinical finisher. Give him the service and play him as should be and that confidence wouldn’t have hit the floor.

Yes, I have heard of the word poacher. You tend to get one of them alongside a player that does the donkey work. You rarely have a poacher and have him play 20yds from goal with his back to it.... and that’s where Vaughan has played most of his minutes this season. He’s hardly been in the box, because he gets too involved by dropping deep

You're missing the point. On the few occasions Doyle had an opportunity to show us his poaching instincts he couldn't even do that, which is precisely what Donaldson is failing to do at the moment. You're comparing one failing striker with another striker who failed- i want neither.

If I can find some footage of Donaldson's 3 yard misses perhaps you can explain to me how a workhorse with stupendous hold up play is better suited to those situations as opposed to a natural instinctive finisher?

Pop that in your "Wood's not a full back" folder.

Good finish by the lad and it'll do him the world of good.

    Totally agree.

After our recent history I no longer care how we play as long as we get results.

And the thing is the more we win the more confidence the players will get and that has to be a good thing.

Okay, we might not be the finished article, but we are heading in the right direction and we are picking up points along the way.

Some of the youngsters on here won't remember that in the season we got promoted to the Premier League we had a terrible start and it took time for the team to truly gel, but boy when it did gel, we were freakin' awesome for the rest of the season.

A new era of progress dawns :)

He did a lot of the hard work up front alone he should have put his chance away, unfortunaly some fans belive if as a number 9 you aren't scoring goals you're not doing your job.
The other side of the debate is Clayton has mised some sitters this season.
