the ridiculous thing is when fans keep asking, "why only give donaldson 15 minutes" when the manager, the player himself and other fans have already noted that that was all he was capable of.

the change to 3-5-2 from 4-4-2 actually got us higher up the pitch. the two wingbacks pushed their wingers backwards and we actually started to pick up the second balls in midfield. it was no surprise that when the change in shape happened we actually got into the final third a few times.

if people are only supporters and don't understand formations, tactics and don't want to suggest an answer to a question about who should be in the squad when they themselves brought the subject up then don't make the initial stupid post in the first place or at least have an answer when called out on it.

 

Rubbish is that imo. Bowyer is the most over cautious, frustrating manager we’ve ever had. Devitt was an used sub for over 2.5 games until he came on yesterday. Bowyer doesn’t ease players in, he leaves them getting splinters on their backside and only makes a change when under pressure from the crowds chants, whilst the opposition run us ragged.

 

how does donaldson build up his match fitness and match sharpness without playing in football matches?

 

10p?? That must be the most thriftiest saving I’ve ever seen haha! Yeah hope we see you and under more pleasing circumstances than yesterday!

 

but training is completely different from a competitive match. from what has come out of the club didn't he only start joining back in in training last week? how anyone can expect someone who has been out for the best part of 3 months to be able to start a league match after a couple of training sessions is beyond me.

 

Not by coming on for 15 minutes when we are losing 2-0. Sure he needs to build up his match fitness but not to the detriment of us giving ourselves a chance to get something from the game.

 

so when does he build it up then? after 75 minutes yesterday the game was gone. he needs minutes, he got minutes and hopefully he'll be fit to get some more on tuesday night.

 

I was not aware of the comment with regards Donaldson, BUT if that was the case the only reason Donaldson should have traveled was if we were in a comfortable position yes winning then Bowyer could have said go on lad get your 15/20 minutes in, because there was little sense in the situation yesterday of bringing him on at 2 - 0 down it made no sense especially when we had Oteh on the bench.

 

I agree @Bronco. A much earlier sub to bring Oteh on would have made more sense or even starting with Oteh and Doyle up front to begin with, with McCartan or Devitt behind. Bowyer too cautious for that though I think.

 

Obviously no team can score 3 in the last 15 + minutes, remember Blackpool away under Hopkin, it was 2 - 0 with 6 minutes + injury yet they won the game so your talking nonsense, the game was over because of our inept manager didn't make the right changes earlier that might have given us a chance of getting a goal back then who knows.

 

but again, oteh would have done nothing different to what doyle and mccartan were doing for the first 75 minutes and we were getting nothing from that. we were screaming for someone to try and get hold of the ball when it was played up to the front two, put their centre-half under pressure and challenge them. the ball was coming back far too easily all game. bringing donaldson on and changing the shape gave us some of that and we started getting into the final third. that would not have happened with oteh on the pitch.

 

did you go yesterday? what in the first 75 minutes gave you any hope of getting something out of that game?

 

I think that is Bronco's point. Bowyer should have done something to change the personnel and formation well before the 75th minute. Donaldson wasn't available to do that. And yes Bronco was there.

 

ok, so how would you or bronco have changed the personnel and the shape of the team say at half-time to have reversed the 2-0 deficit we faced?

 

Is the correct answer. There's a difference between giving a player 15 minutes and only being able to do 15 minutes. If you can't physically do more than 15 minutes you shouldn't be on a football pitch.

 

I'm not saying the first 75 minutes, it was pretty obvious to fans who traveled or watched it on TV the game was over if Bowyer persisted with the same starting 11 and the same set up, it seems only he thought sending the same players out would change, talk about stubborn.
Then after seeing that made no difference to our play he makes two changes one like for like and the other taking an attacking player off and bringing Mellor on, what was the point Cooke had to be a better option and Oteh on for McCartan.

 

Cooke for Taylor for a start at half time to get some creativity and hold on to the ball in midfield. Then at 60 minutes I would have put Devitt on for Connolly and got him sitting just behind Doyle and McCartan. Finally Oteh for McCartan if the earlier subs hadn't worked. No doubt Bronco will tell you what he wanted to do himself.

 

I'll ask again. What's patronising about those questions?
