Sounds like a fair plan. Certainly would have brought Cooke on at half time, he should have been on from the start.

    so if your subs are:
    1. cooke for taylor.
    2. devitt for connolly.

you've moved connolly centrally behind the front two, who do you play wide-right to keep the balance of the team? or are you changing to a diamond of reeves, cooke, pritchard, devitt?

Thats my point no body who went yesterday though we would get anything from the game after we conceded a sloppy second goal just before half time, be Bowyer gave the same players 15 minutes to turn things around , you don't have to be a football manager or coach to realise that wasn't going to happen.
So credit to him he made two changes earlier than he usually does, as above Devitt for Reeves who once again has gone backwards since his reintroduction to the starting 11, and a bewildering change of Mellor for Pritchard.
Yes I did go and will be there on Tuesday night cheering my team on because that's how it is, but do I have to accept what we've seen recently not on your life and if you think I'm critical you need to read a few comments from other fans.

What relevance would that have made there are several media outlets that show the game, are you suggesting anyone who did not go doesn't have a right to critise another dire performance, Bowyer picks the team the formation and I would expect what they do on the training ground would be executed on the match day, then again maybe it is ?.

again, the 'bewildering' change of mellor for pritchard allowed a change of shape which got us higher up the pitch. they are the changes bowyer made, but what changes would you have made?

Mellor coming on made no difference whatsoever

How about an arranged game behind closed doors? He mentioned getting that sorted for Devitt, why not for Clayton too?

Give it a rest. Changing to a back 5, and yes it was a 5 not a 3, didn't get us higher up the pitch. Mansfield tired as you would expect having handed us our arses for 70 odd minutes so naturally retreated a bit deeper.

Ok let's accept your correct although for me we didn't show anything with regards troubling Mansfield until the big lad came on.
But to answer your question if that was the master stroke that might change the game " why didn't Bowyer do it at half time" are you telling us that he gave the same players 15 or so minutes to get us back in the game total nonsense.
I didn't have a problem with Devitt for Reeves as unfortunately Reeves is going back wards since his return to fitness. So lets go with what I'd have done, accepting Devitt for Reeves made sense, Cooke for Taylor who offered nothing (not for the first time) and as Clayton couldn't do 30 or so minutes Oteh for McCartan.

and you would have kept us playing a 442 but in reality a 4312 with two wingers and one central midfielder in Cooke if you're playing Devitt behind two strikers? our central midfield area would have been even more none existant than it was with Taylor and Reeves.

to win or at least compete in most matches in league two you need to control the midfield, something we haven't done for a long time. a combination of Devitt and Cooke doesn't do that either.

Can you tell me why a two of Devitt and Cooke couldn't control a game???

As I said, read my post again

I honestly don’t think I can put it any more clearer than I have, therefore if you are unable to decipher it then I certainly ain’t gonna break it down any further!

in my opinion and from what i've seen of both, both like to get forward and effect the match in the final third - which is great but it leaves you short when the attacking phases breakdown. neither would really be happy doing the dirty work of a central midfielder or have the discipline to be the anchor of a midfield. in my opinion there wouldn't be a balance between the two. i'd definitely try play them both plus another though. unfortunately, at the moment we don't have a 'spoiler' in the midfield.

Spot on mate. This is fundamentally the biggest issue I have with boring clueless Bowyer

As the great Albert Einstein once said:

“the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”

    Sums up Boreyer for me

You could have at least attributed the author and online journal where you lifted this quote from.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is the final sentence of paragraph 14, of Adam Raj’s article, on Width of a Post https://widthofapost.com/2020/01/25/the-last-hurrah/

    Credit where credit is due!

Cooke doesn't have the dicipline? Isn't he the midfielder with the most tackles in our team... not to mention I think I read that he has the 3rd best pass completion in the league... to me that suggests he could run a game if our football was a bit more positive. I thought he looked good in the anchor early in the season.

This is a ridiculous question. Of course he has to build up minutes on the field, but we will all have to wait including Donaldson for the most appropriate game to introduce him. Yesterday was not one of them matches, we were 3-0 down!! Oteh would have been a better option. But hey what do I know!

You actually assume wrongly big rod

if you must know I saw it on someone’s random twitter post and thought it was a clever quote to apply to GB as it applies perfectly to him. I can’t credit it as I’m not trawling through Twitter just to satisfy you. Anyway, I did credit Einstein as he was the one who said it...:eyes:

But fear not, next time I’ll make sure I run everything by the plagiarism police to keep you satisfied ;)

No it would have been 433 as Oteh would have played along side Doyle and three in the middle Devitt, Pritchard and Taylor with Connolly our wide man.
