You make out a reasonable general case which would restrict the sacking of managers. But managers are meant in this business to inspire the clientele as well as competently prepare the workforce. Our manager is doing neither. I can’t see him changing. Why wait and delay the inevitable. I said three weeks ago it wasn’t yet time to sack him but nevertheless Rhodes should be canvassing opinion and looking at the available replacement. If, as a responsible CEO, he’d done that he might be in a position to sack on Monday and appoint on Tuesday. And get the galvanic effect required for promotion.

 

As you saw if wasn't a very good game, very few if any could take any credit from that performance, as yourself I think most watching could see it was not working why oh why with Donaldson on the bench didn't he make at least that change at half time.
At 1 - 0 I could understand Bowyer giving the starting 11 time to get us back in the game but giving players a chance at 2 - 0 was not Bowyers best decision IMO, I haven't heard any of Bowyers post match comments but if he said they will be in training on Sunday that's very reminiscent of last season and most were hoping that was behind us as a club.

he did, he asked him during the week how much time donaldson thought he could give the team. donaldson said 15-20 minutes, which is what he got.

out of interest, who would you have taken in the squad instead? would you have been happy if he'd been brought on at half-time and his injury had re-occurred?

a player has to start building his match-fitness back up somehow. what way would you suggest rather than playing games and increasing his minutes?

 

because as much as oteh will run the channels, he's not going to compete in the air or hold the ball up. granted, donaldson didn't do much of that in his 15minute cameo but oteh wasn't the sub to make at that time.

 

Had we been cruising, bringing Donaldson on for the last 15 minutes or so to get him some game time would absolutely have been the right thing to do but we were losing 2-0. It's just poor game management pure and simple. We had a fully fit forward on the bench that just might have made a difference if they had been brought on earlier.

 

Neither was a fifteen minute Donaldson. If we're gonna bring him back at least wait till he can do a half of football.

 

No, he was the sub that should have been made at least 15 minutes earlier, given we were 2-0 down and Bowyer knew Donaldson wasn't capable of more than 10-15 minutes.

 

Exactly. I find him weak as a manager.
Constantly changing the team and formation.
Asking players how much they can give whilst not knowing from training?!!
Signing Ismail when he knew his fitness couldn't see him play every match.
Having 8 CM's who all play the same role essentially and not addressing it.
Playing Vaughan and Doyle out of their favoured positions.
Playing Wood Left side of midfield
Getting Mellor to keep trying that effing attempt at a long throw when its not yielded one chance all season
Putting BRE and AOC together is a recipe for disaster, they argue all the time, in fact AOC argues with all his partners when he's to blame for most of it.
He is always scared to change a formation to go try and win a match when level, always swapping like for like.

Managers like this don't motivate, they are too pragmatic and put their teams out to not get hammered.
This is why he was brought in last year, to try and keep us up.
He's now showing why, as i highlighted in September, his win percentage is so low, why his teams get so many 0-0 draws.
Why he's not the man to take us forward.
I wish the club had the balls to have dealt with this situation after relegation.
Surely they would have had enough time to get to know the guy and see his training methods, seeing that he's not all that

It's even the small things that pissed me off yesterday. Mansfield left 2 pacey attackers up on halfway on the rare occasions we had a corner, so they could counter us. But when they had a corner we had every single player back defending. Even Doyle, McCartan and Connolly who are useless in the air.

He is so risk averse its unreal.

Yes, I get it if 2-3 up then give Donaldson a run out but to be honest if a player said I can only give 10-15 min I would of said stay at home, do some work in the gym.

Send Oteh back if we don't want to use him.
