I was looking at Spearing but he's still playing regular football at Blackpool, ideal nasty little bugger.

 

There is something wrong with our squad. I am looking past the players. It has to be the coaching and the lack of a game plan that takes into account how we want to play and the ability to change the set up during the match. If we carry on this like this we can forget promotion. Decisions need to be made and fast.

 

Wonder where the stat quoters are tonight? I don't no stats to tell you this team is struggling, all this bollox about being unbeaten. i watch this crap every week with my own eyes, its painful. Today a lowly league 2 club completely outplayed us because our manager is tactically inept. I'd like to know just how much say he has had into Doyle coming back because its made us play worse. And thats of no fault of Doyle.

 

Bowyer is the problem as Fordy and others mentioned.

I'll leave it at that. Very depressing. Lucky we are in a good position but this squad should be clear top of the league with whats at disposal. Underachieving big time.

Today wasn't Bowyers fault, it was our fault. Yes you lot out there, you were to blame for this utter shambles.
I've read some whoppers on here before but this is right up there with them.

Sadly getting rid of him is the solution. He has had plenty of time and money and he has probably achieved making us hard to beat but little else. His decision making is awful, his football entertainment is awful, results are average in a very poor league, I don’t see a good outcome with him in charge making baffling choices given the resources at his disposal. Be gone.

This isn’t just about today. It’s the whole way we are set up and this mindset and the indifferent form will not get this team promoted. Doyle is just one example, pure and simply a fox in the box and he has been badly managed in the roles he has been given. Similarly Vaughan, an absolute marquee signing in L2 who looks poor.

 

Maybe we do need to adopt a longer term view here but that isn’t great. 3 wins in 14 is it now?
plus do we know our best xi and a style of play? I’d say not yet. At least if we did we could say it’s clear we need this player and that player. At the minute it feels like we fix one problem then realise we have 2 or 3 more.

 

I agree, he's trying to fudge together something by throwing two strikers together whose attributes are the same. He did the same in midfield with Palmer and Reeves. Then he sticks a non assisting winger on the right and and a central midfielder on the left and sounds perplexed on the radio how we can't turn possession into chances.
I'm beginning to ask myself if he's the right man for the job...

 

Look I don't see how any club could sack a manager that's taken a team that was bottom of the L1 to been in the promotion picture of L2 after 26 games of the following season and has done this without a settled side

You say "achieved making us hard to beat " as though that's something that's easy. If it's so easy, how come he's the first since Parky to do this

And results are not "average" they're above that, which is why we're 6th

When rebuilding you make the team strong at the back first and go forward from there, particularly in L2

This "entertainment" request, is just laughable. Most fans who remember L2 of old, accept that the footie will be pretty terrible for 80% of the time. Did you see the Sheff U / West Ham match last night? Neither team could string two passes together for longer than once per 30 minutes and that's The Premier League - but we think, rather arrogantly that we have a divine right to be entertained every match. We had the same complaints under Parky

We're in L2. Do what we need to do to go up, i.e. repeat that Salford game 20 more times but convert our chances.

I get that the lack of entertainment has a limiting effect on patience - but please can we just give the manager at least two windows and a full fit squad and then see how he's done at the end of the season

 

I can see this 2 ways:

1. We're sat in 6th place on equal points with 3rd and, other than Swindon at home and Salford first half, haven't played well at all. Must be more to come from the team/squad surely!!

2. We've been lucky to amass the points we have and have ridden our luck in numerous games. We have managed to make many of the lower placed teams look like Liverpool's world beaters. Don't look like scoring in many of the games because of the set up and style of play.

I have a foot in both camps to be honest but I don't think that getting rid of Bowyer halfway through the season is the answer. We've had enough manager's over the last few seasons and I don't want us to be one of those clubs with a constantly revolving door. After the Rahic era we need some stability back in the club.

 

I'd prefer 3331 at this point, no way we can have 2 in midfield, because the midfielders we have are shambolic and devoid of any inspiration or creativity. I'd rather see Anderson and Akpan over a Reeves and Palmer duo (Dumb and Dumber) again.

You see midfielders of other sides actually running AT the opposing teams or slotting through balls to wingers/strikers. Our midfielders seem to collect the ball from one CB, look forward, decide the opponent is too scary to have a go at, pass it back to the next CB and tell him to hit it to the wing/fullback, that wing/fullback passes it back to the CM who passes it back to the CB who at this point knows the twats in front of him are too scared to get the ball forward, so he then hoofs it up top which 99% of the time results in nothing.

I've honestly seen AOC and BRE roam forwards and take on an opposing player more times than Reeves/Palmer. Pritchard isn't mentioned in my criticism because he actually attempts to get forward and has scored more than the aforementioned two combined and he barely ever plays. I almost feel like our dip in form has come now that Palmer is back...

 

Personally, and I'm not saying I agree, but I think he start Doyle on the bench, and play Vaughan as the lone striker. Especially with it being away. Brings Doyle on around seventy mins and switches to a 442.

 

We have to start Doyle upfront alongside Vaughan with two wingers supplying them.

I think Doyle just to get him scoring for us and Vaughan being a leader.

I don't care .. just make sure it goes in.
