Say what you want about tactics but we looked like we couldn’t be bothered in that first half. Crawley created chance after chance and as I’ve said could have been 3 or 4 clear at half time. That’s down to the manager. He should be praised if doing well but rightly slammed if not. We were lucky to get w point last week and got nothing this week against a side we should be beating.

Oh i get it, you were being sarcastic and you want Bowyer sacked for gross incompetence. I like your style.

Sadly getting rid of him is the solution. He has had plenty of time and money and he has probably achieved making us hard to beat but little else. His decision making is awful, his football entertainment is awful, results are average in a very poor league, I don’t see a good outcome with him in charge making baffling choices given the resources at his disposal. Be gone.

This isn’t just about today. It’s the whole way we are set up and this mindset and the indifferent form will not get this team promoted. Doyle is just one example, pure and simply a fox in the box and he has been badly managed in the roles he has been given. Similarly Vaughan, an absolute marquee signing in L2 who looks poor.

The main criticism of the tactics today is playing one winger.

Taylor is not a winger, not at his age, and Connolly as the sole winger is not exactly king of the assists.

    He's just fast.

It's more than just an individual he isn't suiting. The performances all season have been largely below what the squad should bre capable of.

What an absolute shocker of a performance.

Weak in the tackle. No innovation. No creativity. No urgency. No pace. No strength. NO MOVEMENT!!!! We were second best all game, the final score flattered us and we thoroughly got what we deserved.

Have to be fair to Crawley, they beat us in every position and part of the pitch.

Granted, we were marginally better the second half but not by much. The first half was as bad a performance I can remember for a long time. Palmer and Henley were very poor. The normal dependable AOC and BRE were given the run around by Palmer for them upfront.

McCartan was the only one who made a difference and tried to get his foot on the ball and look forward. Doyle and Vaughan were given absolutely nothing to work with Bowyer urgently needs to address this. I can’t recall making the keeper work once.

Not a good day in the office at all. Dramatic improvement needed not just in the next home game, but more so at Colchester.

Agree. Maybe today was good in that respect, that it showed a weak underbelly in CM.

Hopefully GB is on the phone right now to JR telling him to get us another Gary Jones and quick.

@Dennis@Dennis has failed to mention any players that is progressing under Bowyer or fits in his so called way of playing.

What you say is 100% correct. Taylor isn't a winger, Connolly just has pace but no end product.

Reeves and Palmer are extremely poor.

So, you can't look at Vaughan and Doyle then expect them to do a Messi.

No player under Bowyer is really setting the world alight.

    He's a yesterday's manager!

Tough to win games against oil money sides like Crawley! Especially when Bowyer's on the shoestring budget we have :(

Can't imagine any manager doing better with as little as Bowyer has to work with. Think I speak for all of us when I say we would die to have a squad as talented as Crawley.

Every time I've seen City this season they have been utter garbage, in the last 2 wins l honestly don't think we were any better than the opposition, Mansfield & Morecambe!

I am not used to these players, but l looked at Richards-Everton in the first comical moments v Morecambe and he reminded me of Matt Clarke.....but in clogs. Then the penny drops, he's our CB, one that Accrington Stanley didn't really want. Then as it became apparent that only Reeves could control the ball as well as Morecambe l realised just how many shit players we have. I just don't buy the idea that we have a good squad, l think it's a shit one.

    It depends what you're expecting.

    In an attacking sense? Absolutely.

In the sense of gaining enough points to mount a promotion challenge? About par for the course, really.

It's easy to make empty statements about how we should definitely be top or top three or whatever, but that isn't football. The best squad on paper doesn't simply win every league every year.

'Performance' is an arbitrary measuring stick - to some extent I am disappointed in the way we have played against certain teams - I've been disappointed at more games than I am comfortable with - but at the same time, our place in the league table does not indicate a side that is badly underperforming.

Yeah he has got your script to read from :innocent:
I have seen nothing yet to describe BRE or Palmer as "good" players.

BRE makes too many rash or ill timed challenges that have cost us quite a few points so far this season and Palmer could not penetrate in a brothel.

Surely it is about performance rather than wingers! Doyle is not a target man and to expect him to win crosses into the box against solid, if unspectacular Centre halves, is unrealistic. With clever weighted passes, opening up the offside trap, is surely more of his forte. I expect Taylor to pick a pass to open up a defence. There again l expect Reeves and Palmer to also have those skill sets and footballing nous.

This is no excuse because overall we could not have complained if we'd lost 3/4-0 but I thought at the time the referee got that headed challenge between Ferguson & Palmer was a foul, just seen it again on this video clip and nothing has changed my mind. for me defiantly a foul on Palmer.
And watching the Doyle effort again two touches cost him a goal.

What about BRE challenge that lead to their second, comedy gold, maybe he thought the last time he made a challenge in the box it cost us a penalty.
