Probably get shot down here but here goes if you change a formation that has took you on a unbeaten run to please the fans then get turned over maybe take no notice of the fans and they should be careful what they wish for.

I'm not sure who's decision it would've been to bring Doyle back, but 4_4_2 is not a favourite for Bowyer. He has to play this way to fit Doyle in and he's not comfortable with it.

As for taunting the Swindon fans about collapsing without Doyle, who's laughing now.

Take what they offer I'd say. .

We need a Gary Jones fighter at this level not the snowflake midfield players we seem to be full of,

You cannot defend that today Park. Completely outplayed and not created a single chance for the leagues top scorer while Swindon are scoring three and losing their top scorer. Now 6th level with Forest Green, it simply is not acceptable.

Come on Park. I had hoped for a win, but looking at the form guide then a draw was more likely. However we put in an inept performance and have lost all three points. Surely you can see that? We are now in the mire of the ‘play off’ places and have a game at Colchester where I think we will be lucky to get anything. Crawley’s run has been very poor, yet they comfortably beat us. Dress it up in any way you want, a defeat today was poor!

And that's a poor use of his talents. It's what he spent a lot of time doing last season rather than getting into the penalty area where he is lethal. It's for the midfielders to get control of the the ball, take it forward and leave Doyle to find the space in the penalty area. But we've got used to half of our midfield being used to protect the defence with our safety first mindset and they struggle to know how to play in the opposition half. When we ask them to do something different, they are all over the place.

At the root of this is that Doyle doesn't fit comfortably with GB's approach to the game. Having said that, most posters on here welcomed him back with open arms.

What is the solution then? Of the starting XI today, O’Connor, Reeves, Wood, McDonnell and Doyle were the only ones he didn’t sign. His squad. He has a dozen midfielders, a dozen, and the midfield was shit today. His squad. He has the top scorer in English football and a former premier league forward, neither of them looked remotely like scoring.
Stop making excuses, unless there is a sea change, this team under BowyerS is finishing outside the top 7.

Three things getting reet on my tits tonight.

BRE is a defensive liability. Anthony and Paudie should be ahead of him.

Taylor contributes nothing to this team.

Palmer and Reeves are too nice to play alongside each other. We need a hard nut alongside them. Time to take action, Bowyer, if Akpan is our best hope of one.

    Goodnight.

The last couple of largely successful managers who went on horror runs:

Todd - replaced, plummet down the table, relegated, very unsuccessful season to follow
Parkinson - in League One, stuck with, recovered, improved finish the season after (7th)
Stuart - replaced, plummet down the table, relegation the following season

If we had replaced Parkinson when he won just 1 in 20 games, we would have better evidence to suggest whether replacing a manager mid-season is worth it or not - because in Todd and Stuart's case, it was a disaster in not only that season, but the following term as well. As it was, retaining Parkinson during that abysmal run saw no plummet, not relegation, and no devastating outcome in the following season.

Replacing Bowyer with someone vaguely similar MIGHT work - but we don't seem to have a Kamara or a Jewell in-house (unless you think Drury is worth a go?), and replacing him with an opposite (Nathan Jones) would be eye-wateringly stupid.

By all means, if we aren't in League One next season, Bowyer should go - and someone LIKE Jones should be appointed and allowed to change things round. But if anyone thinks Jones can get a tune out of team of defensively-minded, hard workers within a few weeks, I doubt that very much.

I think we might be overstating the wingers thing.

If Zeli and Connolly are just going to whip in crosses, we aren't going to score against cumbersome lumbering centre backs.

It's more about the way we play than specifically using wingers.

We need to keep the ball on the deck and get it to Doyle; if it comes in aerially, Vaughan needs to work it to Doyle.

We have up to this point posed very little threat inside the opposition box this season . We do have a lot of time with the ball in midfield areas , if we can retain this midfield strength and get the ball quicker into the box i believe both Doyle and Vaughan would thrive .

We give the forwards nothing to work with. No coherent build up play at all.

The problem is our midfield 2 of Reeves and Palmer ain’t strong enough in a 442 away from home.

If Cooke was fit then fair enough

Pathetic performance. This group of players should be producing much better levels of performance than we're seeing. They look fundamentally uncoached, under prepared and under motivated

I think a lot of people have been worried by the performances, hence the subdued atmospheres and questioning of Bowyer.

I think that's entirely down to coaching and instruction. The talent is there

Shows the value of a 6'5 striker who scores 1 in 3 at this level, Absolutely bossed our defence and another tall lad at the back defending, We had nothing to compete with him and shows what you need as an option at this level at times
