In the end a point each was probably a fair result. Much as it pains me to say I have to agree with Fordy in that as well as Port Vale have been doing we should be disappointed that we didn't get 3 points from that game. Having said that, today and the games against Swindon and Forest Green Rovers showed that we aren't far off where we need to be.
I refuse to get too down about it all this weekend. I watched the game at my local as I did a 12 hour shift last night and didn't get home until 07:30.
I am now home from the pub watching the Royal British Legion Festival of Rememberence. It tends to give you a reality check.

I will be back to my moaning self next week.

One thing to note from today was the away following. After questioning the rather average numbers taken to Swindon, today's away support in an early kick off was excellent. And a proper bouncing away end, not regularly seen at City away days. Hats off.

Whilst we should be aiming for 6 of course, you are wrong with your suggestion that 4 points wouldn't be good, of course it would

Maybe I'm simply a thick old so and so, but can someone please explain what this new 'buzz word", xG is in football these days?
Hell, who makes up this crap?

    Here you go.

The most simplistic plain-English definition of xG is the chance any given shot had in becoming a goal, hence the name expected goals. To take it a step further, xG is the percentage value assigned to an attempt at goal adjusted for situational factors, and it ranges from 0 (unlikely to be a goal) to .99 (absolutely should be a goal).
As example, let’s use an oversimplified situation — a tap in to an empty net from 2 yards out without any pressure has an xG value around .95. Conversely, a shot from outside the 18-yard box with a few defenders (and a goalkeeper) in the path of the shot has an xG somewhere around .01 and .05 depending on the exact positioning of the players involved in that attempt on goal.

xG can be ascribed to an individual player or a whole team. By summing up to the total xG of each individual attempt on goal we get to the Team xG — the numerical value that indicates the total number of goals that a given team was expected to score.

Assuming the two examples above make up the entirety of Team A’s attempts on goal for a given match we can expect their xG to be right around 1. An oversimplified way to interpret that number is to consider it “fair” if Team A actually do end up scoring 1 goal, whether as part of a win, loss or tie. If they fail to score at all, we can safely conclude that someone royally bungled up a goal on the platter and the result may be somewhat unjust. Conversely, if Team A ends up scoring 2 goals, well, good for them on this occasion, but they were “lucky” in a statistical sense and their performance could be difficult to sustain or replicate in the future.”

Some good comments that are based on actual facts from this season as opposed to people quoting we could be doing this or that. As it currently stands we are not good enough for promotion, our current standing sees us 4 points from the playoffs. We can quote whatever stats we want or bang on about what Adams did at Morecambe but league position is the most important stat of all. And if we don't start winning, as Botswana alluded to, we ain't going up this season.

You're on but don't assume I want to win the bet though I'm only basing it on what I think will happen not what I want to happen

If we play the way we normally play we'll get chances and if we take them we will win no need for settling for draws because if we draw we probably wasted our chances

I think a draw is realistic but a win is very possible we are good enough but the forwards will have to click

Disagree imagine if we were second at home to 12th place who have won 3 in 15, would we see a draw as suiting us or would it be two points dropped?

Taking a point away to Port Vale in League Two however you want to dress it up just isn't good enough.

We should be going into any game against any team in this division with the expectation and hope of 3 points.

Splitting hairs there mate, when I talk with someone about the cup run in 12-13 I always say we beat Wigan and Arsenal as well as Villa pens still count;)

I’m all seriousness though I’m not a big fan of counting pizza trophy games on a record considering how often the sides playing are different from the first 11, but I get the point.

It’s certainly uninspiring but doesn’t it feel like the club has been like that for years?

I've decided to drag my lad along to this one so you can all thank me for the dire performance come 2pm.

I'd be OK with a point I think but if we can match some of the recent football and get that little bit of luck that everyone needs then who knows, it could be a happy Saturday and 3 points in the bag.

Clarke's just picked up his second consecutive Manager of the Month for Vale.

He's as a cannier operator as Adams - for me they are the best in this division, as their promotions show.

Having said all that, I'm convinced we can beat anyone in this division and actually fancy a win.

And at least one Vale fan agrees with me ;)

Taken off they're excellent forum (not as good as this one though!!) https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/topic/49644-match-thread-port-vale-v-bradford-city/ - here's 'Joe B'........

"I've been extremely bullish regarding Vale this season but I have a bad feeling about this game.

Bradford have been unlucky with their points total and will eventually start winning games. They've drawn with Exeter and FGR and beaten Swindon in their last three - all good teams"

Nothing wrong with the game plan. The frustration is, with 2 quality forward players, we'd be top 3.
