I can remember 16 goals in 2 games - these are etched in my memory! lost 7-1 to Crewe followed by losing 7- 1 to stockport in the next match - Sept 1965

And previously in 1961 - we beat Colchester 4-1 on Boxing Day (city played really well that day) only to lose the return away match 4 days later 9-1. I think we had lost a match heavily prior to these matches and we also lost to Arsenal in the Cup soon after. Happy days!

Who were the games against @Pablo@Pablo?

Memory is a bit cloudy but was one the Darlington away cup tie and the midweek one was Exeter which had their fans going mad in the Midland Road and celebrating a corner.

Can't think of the other two.

Didn't we get turned over 5 - 0 at Rochdale during that bad run.

Darlo away 1-5 and 6-0 , midweek league cup. Yes, Exeter was the other 6-0 but Saturday league game. Defo Jagger and McCarthy - want to say Paul Reid got the other 2, but happy to be corrected.

    He's the one.

What a start to the season it was for McCarthy, though -- by match 10 (2nd Oct.) in the league he'd scored 10 league goals, and added another 7 in the first 3 League Cup matches! And then in December he was sold to Oldham...Grump!

I have always talked to my local and they have been happy to put City games on and l don’t live in Bradford. I would have thought most pubs in the local area would be prepared to show it. It will be more a case of who else will be in the pub and their attitude.

I've decided to drag my lad along to this one so you can all thank me for the dire performance come 2pm.

I'd be OK with a point I think but if we can match some of the recent football and get that little bit of luck that everyone needs then who knows, it could be a happy Saturday and 3 points in the bag.

We certainly are playing well at the moment, just that the goals haven’t been going in. If we can click up front and play the full 90 in defence, I give us a chance.

I hope that Theo Robinson concentrates on his role as a striker and isn't affected by their crowd. He took at lot of stick from Vale fans when he was made to train with their junior squad.

Clarke's just picked up his second consecutive Manager of the Month for Vale.

He's as a cannier operator as Adams - for me they are the best in this division, as their promotions show.

Having said all that, I'm convinced we can beat anyone in this division and actually fancy a win.

And at least one Vale fan agrees with me ;)

Taken off they're excellent forum (not as good as this one though!!) https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/topic/49644-match-thread-port-vale-v-bradford-city/ - here's 'Joe B'........

"I've been extremely bullish regarding Vale this season but I have a bad feeling about this game.

Bradford have been unlucky with their points total and will eventually start winning games. They've drawn with Exeter and FGR and beaten Swindon in their last three - all good teams"

I'm a Vale fan, your post isn't quite right.

Robinson took stick when he was playing as in all honesty he couldn't hit a barn door. Lazy was a word often used in post match criticism by some. It was the same for his first spell with us in 2015 and the same when he signed in 2020. You can imagine the let down when we had Maynard and Jamille Matt in the building negotiating deals and ending up with a player who'd already been a massive disappointment for us.

Clarke wanted to release him in the summer, but he still had a year left, so Theo was one of three players removed from the first team in training. There was nothing nasty about it, no singling out, no trying to force him out, it was strictly professional. In fact one of those other three Scott Burgess, who is still in that position at Vale, can be seen in the manager of the month press photo smiling behind Clarke so that should say something about how the situational was handled.

Theo wasn't really getting stick when training with the youth team as he would never actually come into contact with fans, we haven't seen him since the last game of the season.

I and I expect the rest of us have no issue with him personally, he was never a troublemaker or anything, no problems whatsoever, he was just a really ineffectual signing for us on two separate occasions who by all accounts was also on a very good contract the second time around which further compounded frustrations with him and John Askey who signed him.

I'm expecting a tough game tomorrow and let's hope no one has to notice the referee for once.
