    Isn’t this a contradiction? If Vaughan gets the red card, isn’t Doyle then needed? Agree that Doyle shouldn’t start, but “not needed”, really?

    If Hopkin had picked that first half team and sevred up that garbage i’d have given him both barrels. Utter rubbish because players are out of position. I’d kinda forgot how bad league 2 football was, now i remember.

    I’m as frustrated as most but Bowyer isn’t Collins. He’s not going to chop and change, then hope for the best. He needs to tweak the formation and personnel to get the best out of what he’s got.
    2 games in and I’d hope he’s seen enough to change things, if he isn’t going to bring players in to suit his system.

    Problem is, he isn’t even looking to ‘tweak’ things. Had he done so, he’s have known that a natural left-back should start and AN Other instead of Doyle....!

    Collins had actually collected more points at this stage ;)

    Bowyer has to learn from todays performance, first 45 we were very poor and didn't look like we would score, second half until Scannell entered the affray we looked no different..Scannell gave us an outlet wide on the right and gave Hendrie a difficult time, once Bowyer took Anderson off and brought Devine on we looked solider in midfield and this allowed Gibson to get wide on the left, as near to 4-4-2 as we could get.
    We need a left winger or to play Gibson wider, we rode our luck at times as we knew how Grimsby. would play so for me we start with Donaldson and Vaughan up top with Scannell and Gibson playing wider on the left, with Doyle to be used as and when.

    Lessons from today:
    Playing a right back at left back seriously hampers our ability to create anything down the left.
    The defence looks fairly decent.
    Doyle is a total waste of space playing the no.10 role - control, passing and vision all terrible.
    We badly need a midfield enforcer, to allow Palmer and/or Gibson to be creative further forward.
    Gibson can hit a mean cross.
    We look far better with Scannel wide right. Ditch the 433 unless and until we get some midfield reinforcements please Gary.
