If we owned the Apperley bridge facilities they would still be under water

 

4 times in the last 20 years. The facilities are great and I know he won't invest in a new place, my frustration is with him/the club and the lack of forward thinking mainly. His heart isn't in and it always seems like a quick fix is good enough now, which it isn't.

 

All you who are saying Rupp should sell up should acknowledge that he would quite willingly sell if someone came along with an offer that is agreeable to him. The problem is no one has, up to date. Our hope must be that we can get promoted and that would stimulate interest.

 

@wetherbywhaler is talking reality. Where is the money men prepared to put the kind off money needed Rupp won’t. It’s easy to talk about these figures needed a lot harder finding someone who will do it.

This continues to come up but If this is what the fans want, let’s give McCall a longer contract and tell him it’s part of a project.
get the ridiculous wage bill down, you will get a top ten budget for league two and a portion will be taken towards new facilities. Then if we get player sales/ a cup run. 25 per cent goes back in budget for this season for example and rest towards the new facilities.
if Lincoln can build one for 1.3 million, how much can we realistically build one for? I think the 5 million quoted is pie in the sky to scare people off the idea

 

Too right it is. The same person was quoting 15m a few months ago.

 

What do most training facilities consist of?. Several football pitches an all weather pitch, gym and treatment rooms seems all the above are covered at Woodhouse Grove so whats the problem?.

 

The two pitches down there are ten times better than the pitch down at City. And there looked after ten times better in a professional manner, the one through the arches is top class as you would expect from a sport orientated school. They also have use of the gym, swimming pool, all weather pitches, offices and dining facilities.

You wouldn’t build a rubbish training ground, and I didn’t say that. It’s simple, would you rather rent good ones, or own inferior ones? If it’s the first then owning them at this time is irrelevant, and only worth discussing on a hypothetical level. We could afford top notch training facilities in the premier league, just from the money you receive. People bringing Lincoln up, I’d rather not spend half our budget at this level on facilities that would need upgrading if we got to where we want to get. I’d rather wait until we get there. It’s more than achievable without owning the assets.

Whike I understand the benefits of owning our own assets, if it’s going to take funds away from the budget then it’s pointless at this stage when we could buy all the assets we want if we got to the championship or above. Rupp won’t invest in them so it’s nothing but going around in circles thinking he should.

It’s a discussion that’s come up because we’re failing as a club, but it’s not the reason we’re failing as a club.

 

He bought it back in another company’s name I believe and charges rent to Leeds United, no business man wants to lose money. The club is always the one which loses out, these guys often find a way of not losing their money.

 

A few months back I was on the greenway near Cleckheaton one afternoon when I heard voices coming from the nearby Liversedge FC pitch. I went up and lo and behold some youth players in Bradford kit were playing. I enquired as to what it was and was told it was the u-18 playing Barnsley. If I had known about it before hand I would certainly have watched the match but City do not publicise when/where the youth teams are playing.

 

Athletic is normally very reliable to be fair.

 

Taking away any windfalls it would be interesting to know how much we are losing every year. Because the extra money won’t last for ever.

 

I'm not having it that all £3m from McBurnie doesn't massively cover last seasons shambles, surely £1m of that is available to get ourselves sorted with pitch etc.

 

And further, your earlier point still stands.... A lot of money for a lot of crap!

 

Saw some pics from this morning and the water was almost touching the top of the arches of the bridges.....not good.

They used to use the artificial pitches at Goals in emergencies didn’t they?

More importantly, I wonder if we had covers on the pitches at VP?
