A lot is made of the training facilities but it isn't a valid excuse for the lack of success on the pitch. They were good enough for Jewell and the Premier League survival team so they are good enough for the League Two cloggers. They have been upgraded over time. In an ideal world, yes, we'd have our own facilities, but when have we been financially stable? Even under Rhodes and Lawn we had to sell players or bank on a cup run to get by. We still don't own the ground either.

Well said, the voice of common sense and reason.
Anyone with at least £5 mill to spend on buying and developing a training facility step forward please.

If only we'd had several bonus windfalls of cash over the last 7 years or so that we could have put towards a lasting legacy.

We don’t though he has no interest in football and no interest in investing in football, until he gets a reasonable offer and clears off it’s a mute point.

Not until we have an owner who wants to be here for the long term and commit to the club.

Completely agree. Building our own training ground would materially improve the value of the club. Its not dead money. We could also rent out a portion of the facility to other local sports clubs and use it as an extra revenue stream.

On a similar basis, buying the ground and sorting the pitch properly are investments in the critical infrastructure of the club. Assets that sit on the balance sheet and grow the value of the club.

He clearly doesn't want to do it. Which is fine, in a sense. But then, if he realizes he's bought into something he didn't understand, sell up and move on.

The training pitches are very good. And whilst I still think there's mileage in investing in our own training facility, for me the bigger priorities are the VP pitch and our scouting, and coaching capabilities. Those elements will have a much greater bearing on our success and the training facilities we already have are adequate for a 3rd/4th tier club.

We aren't in a position to build our own training facility or ground, in truth we never will unless this mythical saviour appears in real life and not in a dream. Having listened to the price of football podcasts it's clear where football is heading and we ain't part of that. Same with owning Valley Parade or building a new ground, the money just isn't there in the lower leagues to justify state of the art facilities, you'll see more and more clubs in league 1 and especially league 2 go the way of renting facilities as the cost differences between the top two division becomes prohibitive to gaining promotion and consolidation after this. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see this club with their own set up rather than renting a schools facility but let's be realistic. This is Bradford, one of the poorest areas in the country, a league 2 club with a cash strapped Council and local authority.

The facilities are good enough for the aspirations we have.

Wonder how much we pay the school in rent to use the facilities.

I am also willing to bet the facilities used are better than most league two sides. 4G, Grass Pitches, Cafeteria, Gym and Pool all at a centralized location. What more is needed? The fact the grounds are shared is surely the only argument, not the standard of said grounds.

From what I remember Leeds sold Thorp Arch because they were in dire straits financially,

No doubt. However they’re on the cusp of the premier league, we’re 4th division crap. Their training ground will pay for itself should they get promoted.

And that’s without going into how much more in sponsorship and ticket sales they bring in than us.

Unless we get a sugar daddy we just can’t compete with a club like that, and even mentioning them in the same breathe as us is unreasonable and unrealistic.

How is it backward thinking? It is called controlling a budget. You have to prioritise.

The facilities are not the same now as they were 20 years ago. If you cared to read my post I actually referenced that they have been upgraded at various points.

With fans like you in control we might have 'forward' thinking owners but we'd go bust. Building and owning our own training facilities would be great.........in an ideal world.......unfortunately the real world is about balancing budgets.

When Rahic took over he tried to cut our wage budget and we've since been relegated into League Two with a squad containing many players on hefty league one wages. If you think any club in that sort of situation has the amount of money needed to improve our facilities you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

    Get real.

Any money we have right now would go into re-balancing a lopsided squad.

It was never an issue until Grayson used it as one of the reasons for not taking the job.

You'll have a long wait for that. The club has chosen for over 10 years not to put this information into the public domain. That contrasts with 22 of the 24 Div 1 clubs who do provide the information. I don't know precisely how many Div 2 clubs provide it but it's a majority of them. The irony is that the club provides the information you want to the EFL but can't be bothered to provide that information to its fans. You'd think they had something to hide! ;)

This has been explained on many occasions and the answer today is the same as it has been for the past two years. I'll repeat it again for the final time. There is no evidence at Companies House in the UK or the equivalent in Germany that the owner has put any more of his money whether a loan or whether additional equity into the club. This is despite what many choose to believe.

If we had an owner that wanted to push the club on, looking to the future and invest in stuff it might have been a good time to start looking at getting our own training base - that we own. An asset. But I doubt that will happen.
