Fair comment Jon but his incoming last deadline day, 90 minutes football and subsequent injury is surely not enough for us to make our minds up. I will admit there is a big challenge ahead in seeing if there is a consistent footballer in there, he comes across as the sort who needs a push but lets put it this way - of the 4 strikers we currently have (inc Clarke) he is the one who I am watching most to see what happens. If he proves to be lazy in his attitude then he will be judged as such, but I think it is only right to give him a decent shot start of this season (and hopefully he will give us one back!)

    No.

    It's not.

We had this same false argument after Brunker proved beyond a shadow of doubt he had no talent in his first cameo.

It's way easier to get the measure of a players natural attitude.

Within 2 minutes of Brunker being on the pitch it looked like he’d either won a competition to play for Bradford City or simply had something on Rahic that he was blackmailing him with in order to be given a professional contract. Whatever it was, he is still the worst player I’ve ever seen in 36 years watching the Bantams.

I agree in principle but our forward line, as it stands, has defects and a lack of depth. Assuming injuries for example, irrespective of commitment etc, SMs hand may be forced to play Guthrie.

I suppose, we could make that statement right across the pitch

Let's hope Stuart comes up with solutions
In all our weakspots.Leaving things as they
are won't be good enough.I believe in being
ready rather than see what happens then
trying to remedy was was not right and
playing catch up in hope we might salvage
    something!

I agree it is going to be about his attitude I have seen and read plenty about his poor attitude I have also read he has good ability and an eye for a goal. It’s good he seems to have payed for a personal trainer during lockdown which shows a bit of commitment hopefully he will realise that along with ability attitude is very important. Maybe he sees this has his last chance to make a mark

yes I did unfortunately, however at the very least he had come through the ranks at a professional set up at Millwall before joining the rest of his Millwall mates at BCFC. So at least somewhere in his youth career he must have had something about him. As for Kai, I don’t think he’d ever seen a football before never mind played.

Maybe we should offer £100 and outbid them

But then we would have to pay £140 for a Covid test which will bust our budget so that's gonna have to be a no I'm afraid.

The idea you can get a better idea of a player's attitude in 60 minutes than over a longer period of time is ludicrous. What you mean is you decide on a player the first time you watch them and will then never change your mind.

You can spot a fundamental issue very quickly. I wouldn't need more than a minute to decide if an average fan could make it as a professional. Would you?

First time i saw Cullen play at Peterborough i knew he was destined for better things, same with O'Brien at Blackpool, Burke and Lee Evans away at Barnsley. They stood out like a sore thumb

Exactly. Sometimes you just CAN tell.

It's no use saying that in all cases it's impossible to read something about a player in a very short amount of time.

Mostly, no you can't. Sometimes, yes you can.

Doyle for me stood out (first time we had him). Thought he was so calm and collected on the ball, I'm suprised he didn't really kick on and go on to much bigger things. We had a winger also about seven years or so ago. Can't for the life of me remember his name, although its on the tip of my tongue. He did go onto to being a decent Championship winger. Just remembered his name - Adam Reach. BUT - we also had another winger on loan. Also can't remember his name. I'm thinking something to do with Derby County or Notts Forests youngest ever player. He was meant to be the next big thing, yet he didn't go on to do much, perhaps injury stopped him. Anyone remember?

That's the one. Seems he's available after being released by Exeter last month.
