I’d imagine any more new signings would be similar to Sutton. Not a marquee signing but capable of playing a couple of positions.

We’ve had nearly 5 years in decline, surely it’s Bradford City’s time to turn the corner and start to climb the league’s.
Come on City 2020-21 is our year.

Exeter could be pocketing nearly 5 million from Ollie Watkins transfer to villa. Be interesting to see what they do with that club changing figure eh?

The problem there is, yes you can go spend it on many players out there. However will players with high transfer fees fit into the wage cap? Probably the best thing they can do with that is bank £2 mill for a rainy day/to keep stable. Use a million for a few transfers and spend another £2 million in their youth set up that produced Watkins.

Yeah my point was more would it go into the club to make improvements or the owners pocket?

Exeter have sold quite a few youth graduates...Ampadu Watkins Matt Grimes and use profit to invest for future to get more stars
Something City should do as the youth to 1st team pathway hasn't produced that many recent stars

My ante post pick are Exeter. Good footballing team, play some nice stuff. Kept catalyst of team together from last season, now with little off field issues as highlighted above.

The most surprising thing for Exeter was the way they imploded in the po final v Northampton. Didn't see that coming!!

I think they will push on this season akin to that lot East of pudsey

We have produced them ie Wisdom , Simon Francis , Oli McBurnie , the disappointing aspect is that we sell ours before we get to see them producing the goods for City.

I just like the constant and settled system and off field backdrop at Exeter, moreso than Cheltenham, who too think will be in the top 7.

Their development set up is one of the best outside the premiership, the club actively develops young player as part of its long term strategy. This transfer is testament to this.

Yeah, right idea but wrong way of going about it. Exeter have a clear strategy when looking for recruits to their youth and development set up, i remember watching a programme about it on a sports channel. A couple of years ago they accounted for nearly all the money spent in transfer fee by clubs buying players from league 2. Maybe the virus and salary cap will force us to go down a similar route.

One thing to consider though with exeter is the catchment area. If a young kid wants to sign elsewhere at a young age then thats a hell of a lot of traffic for a parent to consider.

For a kid living here he has probably 20/30 clubs within an hours drive to choose from if he is good enough, if he is from exeter he has probably 2 or 3.

Its one of the strategies Fleetwood target with their development of youngsters. Poolfoot farm was built with one of the reasons being a facility of the standard to attract youngsters looking for an alternative of travelling to Manchester or Liverpool.

He seemed more interested in youth cast offs from the Manchesters, Liverpool etc. I don't recall us ever investing too heavily in our own youth setup or any solid plans to do so.
