His goal scoring record whilst at Valley Parade suggests your wrong again.

Season 2020/21 played 21 scored 8 leading scorer.
Season 2021/22 played 39 scored 12 leading scorer.
Season 2022/23 played 44 scored 27 leading scorer.

Come on fordy,no cook this season and I honestly think we would have finished in the bottom half of the table.A good few of his goals were made by cook himself without the help of his team mates. If Cook stays another 3 years with us,I can see him very close to a hundred goals for the club and that isn't bad for someone who has scored 50 goals in two and half seasons.

    I Wouldn't call that a purple patch.

To answer your highlighted I'd suggest Cook has done his job, maybe you should be looking elsewhere.
Cooks not merely our leading scorer but League Two's leading scorer, which most would accept that if he is the leading scorer he's better that other strikers in the League Two which say to most he is that good.
I posted a few weeks back not merely Leagues Two's leading scorer but also he was leading for assists to his fellow team mates, which you have openly criticised him of offering nothing to the team.

Gonna stick my head up above the parapet and say that he stays. I'm not that sure that any club will stick up big wages for a player that is 33 soon, this gives the new club no resale value whatsoever. Plus he will want to stay relatively close to the north east.

Stockport as some have mentioned on here already have wooton so would just end up on the bench.

either way all the best to him.

Stop feeding the troll. He posts these comments and then sits back and waits for bites. Nobody could possibly be as stupid as he appears in his statements, surely.

There was a time I would have agreed with your last statement Fordy but not now. His all round play surprised me (in a good way) last season, especially away from home. His link up play was very good even when battling two centre backs. The goal at Gillingham was excellent, I think we would all agree on that but the goal at Mansfield when he chased down Matty Platt's long ball into the corner, likewise the goal at Hartlepool, chasing Yann Songo's ball into the corner. Both those goals as with the Gillingham goal he still had a lot to do before putting the ball into the net. Those three goals alone out of the 30+ he scored showed his quality. With a few more quality signings and maybe a couple of contracted players moving on we can put a bit more more quality in and around Cooky. With Andy Cook we know what we are getting and don't forget that a few years ago we paid that "goal machine" Aaron McLean £8,000 a week.

Andy Cook. The player who isn't very good but is also the player who can score goals to get you promoted.
    Classis Fordy.

and they haven’t. Concessions will have been given by both parties. He wants to end his career here, we will no doubt be paying him a little more but over three years instead of two. More manageable. You know like PayPal for big items three months no interest ;)

I understand where you are coming from.

However, I think we've more chance of getting out this division next season with Andy Cook than without. I see it as an investment, which carries risk like all investment, but at this point in time it appears to be sensible approach. We can reappraise the situation at the end of next season.

This is great news, Cook has been fantastic and so deserves to be recognised this way. I would have been happy with 2 years but that's a minor quibble.
To score 30+ goals in a team with very little back up is a phenomenal effort, I have also felt some of Cooks lesser games and bad misses have been as a result of the enormous pressure on him to deliver as we've been getting so few goals from elsewhere.
But there's no point in this signing with the right signings round AC and to take some of the pressure off him. I am certain he will still deliver but we have share the load
After last weeks disappointment this is a good start to the summer ☀️

I don't think it really matters.

Cook might be 34, but he's still got plenty left in the tank if you ask me.

Signing a 32 year old for 3 years who relies on pace or has a dodgy injury record is one thing..what is Cook going to lose? There's no pace to lose. Awareness will only increase. Mobility.. again, wouldn't say a 35 year old would have many issues there.
Great signing. Altho as others have said, we seriously need pace, mobility and goals elsewhere.
He's been golden boot this year with pretty shit service
Imagine him with quality ball the like of which Summerbee or Beagrie produced even as their careers wound down..
