    It's great news and very much unexpected. But its essential that we add greater pace and creativity to our midfield and wide forward positions, plus a greater goal threat from other positions.

    Great news for us, had to be a 3 year deal as they were handing them out to Oliver and colin Doyle so its the least he deserves.

    Just need to keep feeding the Cookie Monster next season

    3 years is a long deal, but fair play to the club. It was obviously what it took to keep him and he was in a very strong bargaining position. Far less worried about this deal than other contracts we've dished out in the past and hopefully a sign that the club will be genuinely ambitious in the summer to bring in the quality of player that we need to make Hughes playing style work.

    No doubt it’s a good deal for him giving him a bit of security. But in my opinion it’s a good one for the club as well the money is spread over time without breaking next seasons budget

    Great news, he's fully earned this contract and even if he doesn't replicate this season's form, he will always be a reliable goalscorer at this level.

    I'm not concerned about the length either. Yes, he's 32 but his game has never been about pace (he doesn't really have any) but more his finishing and absolute power in the box. If anything, that has improved since he arrived at the club.

    I think also it’s probably a Sports Insurance issue with brokers refusing to insure him?

    I said a few months ago that Cook could be turning into a new Thorpe or Windass, hopefully like them his best spell will be in his 30’s. Good to have him signed up.

    Makes one’s mouth water Dave for sure.

    I still love my 3-5-2.

    As you say those two up top with two pacy wing backs adding width and crosses, at the same time supplementing the middle 3. Its our way forward . I’m not sure we have the personnel, nor the gaffer willing to play it , therein lies the issue?
