Vast majority of his Gills goals were pens. Scored three penalties in one match. Cracking record.

It's not too bad when our last out and out striker was Nhaki Wells who scored 42 from 91 apperances.

Cooks goalscoring record is reflected by where he's happy, settled and feels loved.
When he isn't, he lacks motivation and prone to weight increase.

And at his age, it gives us a clear advantage over others wanting his signiture, particularly clubs not based in the north.

If we were to lose him, I feel it could possible be somewhere like Hartlepool, close to his roots.

However, Im quietly confident, he'll see he professional career out with us.

There was a time I would have agreed with your last statement Fordy but not now. His all round play surprised me (in a good way) last season, especially away from home. His link up play was very good even when battling two centre backs. The goal at Gillingham was excellent, I think we would all agree on that but the goal at Mansfield when he chased down Matty Platt's long ball into the corner, likewise the goal at Hartlepool, chasing Yann Songo's ball into the corner. Both those goals as with the Gillingham goal he still had a lot to do before putting the ball into the net. Those three goals alone out of the 30+ he scored showed his quality. With a few more quality signings and maybe a couple of contracted players moving on we can put a bit more more quality in and around Cooky. With Andy Cook we know what we are getting and don't forget that a few years ago we paid that "goal machine" Aaron McLean £8,000 a week.

Like I said his all round play over this season, especially away from home, don't think it's just a purple patch. He looks comfortable with his role in the team, just needs more support around him.

    That's a solid point.

We even saw that ourselves when Cook admitted he was out of shape the previous season as the competition for places wasn't very good.

That said, he could also take that motivation to be the best Andy Cook possible to another club. Whether he maintained it would likely depend on the circumstances, I suppose.

I'm still leaning towards him leaving, but feel it could be a mistake.

His emotional attachment to the club and fans may well keep him here. It also looks like he is not prepared to move too far from his home. I think his all round play has improved and that is probably no small party to the influence of MH and training staff. He is an old fashioned centre forward like Hanson. He used to get slated as well. Now then if we had a Nakhi to go with him we would be force to be reckoned with.

Probably something that has gone under the radar. You can't fault MH's management of Cook. He's got the very best from him. MH has take some stick for style etc but he's built a system that get's Cook the chances.

but do Hartlepool have any money?.One minute Cook is bound for league one,and yet you are suggesting National league might be a better choice. What a decision for Cook to make.

Another of your off the wall comments Fordy. Raj Singh has put the club up for sale and has said he is sick of the abuse. Don’t think there will be many takers unless there is someone around like the guy who spent £13 mil buying Oldham.
I know Raj a bit and someone else involved there, they believe Asley could get them promoted but on a small budget which rules Cook out. He will get a two year deal somewhere then perhaps finish up at Pools
