As it's turn out your bang on, but when you look at all the players we brought in this season as a club we've wasted a lot of money.
Most have had their chance to show what their all about unfortunately most have not been impressive enough to be a regular bench warmer, especially as we brought Gent in and Hodges with his lower league knowledge it's been a bit of a disaster.

Wright did well for us but dropped us. He had a choice and made it. Well done to him.
We need players that really want to be here and fight for the shirt. Sick of Smallwood retirement signings also.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Jayteebee, Manningham bantam, Silverbantam and 4 others like this. -
At present 6 are out ‘on loan’. That still means 29 players for 11 slots. I would suggest 25/26 would be more than enough.
Even if the budget remains the same, use the funds for better quality players.
Too many loanee’s have not really made enough of a difference. Why on earth is Bola here?

3 years is a long deal, but fair play to the club. It was obviously what it took to keep him and he was in a very strong bargaining position. Far less worried about this deal than other contracts we've dished out in the past and hopefully a sign that the club will be genuinely ambitious in the summer to bring in the quality of player that we need to make Hughes playing style work.

Great news to start the day off with
Andy Cook is proven to get goals in this division. One of the things I will applaud Hughes for is he's managed to get the best out of cook. Prior to this season, Cook was merely a goal poacher. Since Hughes came in last year, Cook's all round game has improved drastically. His ability to hold the ball up, bring others in to play an the variety of goals he's scored this season means he would of been a very hard man to replace had he gone elsewhere.
Yes, it is a 3 year contract, an preferably, it would of made sense for the club to limit the contract duration to 2, but in League Two, an even the leagues above, as long as a player maintains their fitness levels, they can easily play till their late 30s. Examples Such as Ian Henderson, Billy Sharp, Paddy Madden, Matt Smith have all done the business, even with age being against them
Hopefully we can push on now an sign some players to compliment Cook so he doesn't have to carry us again next seasonAllotment Bantam, Bronco, JonButterfield and 4 others like this. -
I wish people would stop saying Cook is 33 years old.

Còok has been phenomenal this season but whether he stays or not I think realistically he's unlikely to hit the same heights next year.
We need a different system which has to start with a midfield overhaul.Inspector, Bantam75, Idlebantam and 3 others like this. -

I think Cook will still be here next season he is not getting any younger. He is at a club where he has had his best season and liked by fans. I think he will stay

Chapman picking up the injury did indeed concide with our form failing badly, don't think we hardly created a chance for Andy Cook, and when he is the reason you are anywhere near the playoffs that pretty much spells the end of your season. With the left side being a concern, Hughes's default was to go for in various games a three of Alex Gilliead, Adam Clayton and Richie Smallwood. What you can take from that is it wasn't the players bottled the playoffs, they never really stood a chance. Why? Because the manager simply refused to line up with the tools available to potentially give them that chance.
Always said, any manager worth their salt should be able to nulify us if he does his homework. Fair play to PaulSimpson, he did just that.
No excuses next season Mark. You don't get us that promotion, we look elsewhere.King Cole, Hulmebantam, Kevin1954 and 3 others like this. -

Every new signing says the same thing about coming here. Big fans base etc etc but has that altered our league position? No!
Get your head out of the sand and smell the coffee. We need proper quality in the squad even if that means trimming it down by 2 or 3 players.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

Great news, he's fully earned this contract and even if he doesn't replicate this season's form, he will always be a reliable goalscorer at this level.
I'm not concerned about the length either. Yes, he's 32 but his game has never been about pace (he doesn't really have any) but more his finishing and absolute power in the box. If anything, that has improved since he arrived at the club.1975citygent, Allotment Bantam, Bronco and 3 others like this. -
