Chapman, with one of the best dribbling runs i've seen at Valley Parade, puts the early chance on a dinner plate with all the trimmings for Cook. Shocking miss. After that anonymous. He would have put that chance away a few weeks ago.

He must be some player Andy Cook. Playing in a system that does not suit him at all and still managed to score 13 goals by the end of October.
He should have done better with the early chance yesterday, but other than that the service to him was dreadful and has been for quite a few games. We can all see he needs help up top, especially at home where teams come to frustrate.
Mr Hughes seems to be unable to change things up and appears to want to play football for football's sake.
You have to earn the right to play fancy football , by winning the battle first. we need to stamp our mark on teams from the off.

If anyone thinks Cook was off side look again….Nowhere near!

    @3min 40 secs in and then Banks’s goal from a different angle…wow.

I have to add to the list of posters who have commented on his newer “slimline” appearance and apparent desire this season. Hats off to the lad, long may it continue. As others have said, even he figured out he needed to make changes, and my goodness he has made them.Only problem I have with him now is that he is starting to remind me of Sir Bobby.

Agreed Kev, he looks a far better athlete than last season post Christmas. He’s on a hot streak at the moment, let’s hope it can last and we don’t see another slump like last season, was it 2 in his last 18? The comments might be a bit different should similar happen again. It’s good Andy himself admitted his fitness issues in the T & A, but he needs to remain professional and not let it happen again. It’s his lively hood, it’s unacceptable to get out of shape for a professional athlete.

I imagine the increased competition has also sharpened his focus, so instead of fans getting onto Oliver we should look at the effect he’s had on our top scorer as a positive.

I've not said a bad word against Cook.
Some people expect him to produce goals out of absolutely nothing whilst he is isolated upfront on his own, he's not that kind of player.

When Harratt came on yesterday instead of all the defence focusing on him Cook suddenly had far more space and someone to play off. It was like a double substitution.

Potentially he is, but it’s hard to argue his second half of last season was not only very poor in form, his performances and physical condition warranted the questions some asked of him, so don’t think it’s right to question supporters knowledge cause of that.

Way I see it, we are reaping the benefits of good man management and a whole heap of credit to the player. Management clearly set him a challenge to get fit and management competition for game time. Player has obliged by giving himself, the manager and the club respect by applying himself and stepping up. Bravo Andy Cook for that.

But as with anything, let’s not get too carried away just yet but enjoy the moment of performances he’s putting in and goals he’s scoring.

(for what it’s worth IMO, both his finishes yesterday were bloody good at any EFL level )

Despite all our views it rather looks as though MH kept faith. See MH in Yorkshire Post today, very complimentary about Cook's atitude. Looks like he will start tonight.

Doesnt happen if your second striker drops back when out of possession though. 442 is far too derided by "modernists" when in reality that type of football doesnt happen at L2 level. Force the game on the opposition and it's not a problem.

Still works for me at League Two, just look at the number of teams that go up with two strikers scoring 10 -15 goals each, which you rarely get with one up top.

Give me a striker who scores on a regular basis over one who might look easier on the eye but doesn't score regularly, every time

Half of Hansons City career at L1 level. Not L2. That to consider...

I like Cook, I liked Hanson...he drifted off that last season but he was good for 12-15 goals a season. His partnership with Wells best since Mills and Blake imo.

Well it’s not true and other teams have let him go. Teams in this division.

He offers nothing when the goals dry up and that’s an issue.
